Halle Berry works at a major 911 call center. She is the queen bee in the hive. Someone (Michael Eklund) is kidnapping and killing young girls. Halle breaks the first rule: "Stay emotionally detached and never make promises" when she has to direct a young emotional girl (Abigail Breslin) in the trunk of a car. Halle pulls out all the stops and goes outside the box to assist the girl. The film had me on the edge of my seat, which is hard to do at my age. It had the intensity of "Dirty Harry." WARNING: The kidnapper tortures his victims by forcing them to listen to "Taco" and "Boy George." Well done. Worth the view.Parental Guide: F-bombs. No sex or nudity. Girl in bra.

The previews for this movie did not make it seem like it was going to be as good as it turned out to be. It was interesting to see how this story would play out considering the trailers made it seem like the entire movie takes place in the trunk of a car. From the moment the movie started, it instantly jumped into the suspenseful story. It starts by showing the police operator's work as it was taking the first victim's call. It was a horrific scene and outcome, but it set the standard for the rest of the movie. It introduced the predator Michael Foster, played by Michael Eklund. Michael Foster had a sick obsession with kidnapping and killing blonde haired teen girls. He was calculated and disturbing. But he was also a bit careless. After he had kidnapped Casey Welson, played by Abigail Breslin, he simply threw her into the trunk of his stolen vehicle and then he did not notice all the commotion she was causing while trapped in the trunk. What boggled me the most was the fact that she was on the phone with the police for over an hour, and it was not heard at all. She was talking to the police operator Jordan Turner, played by Halle Berry; it was not the usual side of police that one expects to see in a movie. The whole time, Jordan Turner was trying to help Casey Welson escape captivity. It was a frantic situation for both. The ending was great. I do not want to ruin it by saying what happened, but I will say it was a case of poetic justice for the predator.

I really liked this movie because we don't often get to see what a 911 dispatcher goes through. I won't spoil anything here, but this movie gave me a great perspective of their duty and how stressful/emotional this kind of work can be. Kudos to all the 911 dispatchers out there. I don't know how they do it, especially in such large metropolitan areas. I feel for them. I don't watch thriller movies that much, but every now and then I get inclined to see something other than a romance flick, yes I'm a woman. So I took this movie on because I like Halle Berry. She was phenomenal in this thriller. We always want to know what the end results are when an emergency goes down and they hardly ever get any closure or relief from their calls of duty, so it's disappointing to not know exactly if you were the operator that saved a life or not. In some cases, the news will reveal things to the public, but not in most cases. If you are contemplating watching this, I would recommend a viewing because it is an eye-opener. Who would have thought to really dig into the life of a 911 dispatcher? Very clever! 8 Stars from me!

Riveting. A heart-pounding, chilling thriller that will have you glued to the screen. The acting is superb. A truly intense story with an unexpected, shocking ending. This film touches some interesting, twisted psychological themes. The whole thing felt so real. I think this is the best thriller I've ever seen.
