the_screaming_muse The idea that this movie isn't homo-erotic is hilarious. Anyone on the local planet who's seen this dud would never think that the director did not expressly want to illustrate the intimacy (of many different types)demonstrated between all the male characters of this film, especially since he spends *so* much film time doing just that. This film is so slow its speed could be measured with a Confucian calendar. The dialogue takes about three times longer than it should, and what we found most disturbing is the _very_ clear homo-eroticism demonstrated in every scene. No straight woman who watched this felt that it was geared towards her entertainment in the slightest. This film is strictly by men for men. The supernatural underpinnings, clumsy and badly-F/X'd as they are, run a distant second.Don't rent this unless you're prepared to feel distinctly uncomfortable and painfully bored, or you're entertained by C-budget mini-horror.
bighand99-1 Wow. This movie is amazing! I had no idea one man could put so much homoeroticism into one movie! My friend and I rented this movie and realized it was overly gay with hot chicks but with no boob nudity! The movie is great! It is soo bad that it is good. Just watch it. There are three reasons to watch this movie: 1. The main actor says "I'm just kidding" to his roommate like 3 times! This is funny because his stupid jokes are delivered horribly. 2. The main actor is riding his bike and falls on his face, it is unintentionally hilarious! and 3. There is a scene where the main character is in his new gay frat. His roomie is worried about him but only has suspicions that there is something amiss, no actual proof. So he walks up to the security guy at the outside of the fraternity and tries to get in. The dude won't let him in so the roommate, without any idea that these guys are evil, pulls out a pin and stabs the guy in the neck, killing him!!! It is soo funny because the kid basically committed murder because he thought his friend might be hanging out with bad people. It makes no sense. I have tried to rent all of David DeCoteau's movies because they are bad. He loves the cock. And by cock i mean a rooster, not a penis. Oh, and if you haven't seen Big Trouble In Little China, you should see it. It is the best movie ever made.
moz-1 Considering the director of this film has over 20 features under his belt and the experience of working with B-Movie legend Linnea Quigley, you would think he could have handled this textbook campus thriller with a bit more competance. Before I go further I must make it clear that I only came into possesion of this film for free, saving it from the dustbin at work. Having now seen the film I think the bin would have been a merciful end for this low rent attempt. The characterisations are thin, the acting is forced and appalling, the production design is very limited, the party scenes don't have enough extras and the plot is a pastiche of the Lost Boys, The Skulls and Scream 2. The plot revolves around a group of quasi-vampires who aren't harmed by sunlight and don't actually kill anyone, so there is never any real threat. Also becoming part of the "Brotherhood" is never really that bad as you don't have to avoid sunlight, you can go to college for you're whole life and you get to suck the blood of lots of willing women. Did I mention that the love interest is pretty minging and the geeky best friend is an all too familiar cliche. A waste of money and time.
callow I do like this film. Honestly, I wouldn't watch it otherwise, listening to it on the other hand is a different matter thanks to you shoddy lip synching that went on. It's a traditional good guys versus vampires type flick that I feel hasn't been done justice. Given a decent script, less wooden actors (Barring the guys who play Devon and Chris' roomie) and a slight hint of homosexuality, this film would become a classic instead of a b-movie. This film sits among greats on my shelf, Devon is a great vampire, he is both charismatic and deadly at the same time. The actor brings a great deal of mystery and seductive power to the character. Devon and the Roomie (who's name I can't remember) burn like fire on an otherwise wet film. To be honest I think that it IS a must see, but whether it is a must keep is up to taste.
