ida kamp Laetitia Casta acts fantastic! She is very convincing as the spoiled but strong Lea. The plot is brilliant: She finds herself in a situation where she has to choose between two men. The loyal but oh so boring Laurent, the man she can't have and the straightforward Don Juan named Francois, who does his very best to seduce her. WOW what a contrast. It may sound trivial, but it really isn't. The difference between this movie and other "triangle-dramas" is the brilliant acting! (laetitia Casta) It is without a doubt that the writer is inspired by "Gone With The Wind" but that is not a minus. Let's face it: "Gone with the Wind" was a great story, and it can handle a "remake". Especially a very good one. If you get a kick out of a great love story, then watch this one!
lisat-3 Even though there are many things different from the book, the film still got the point across of the hardship, pain and suffering of the French people at all levels. The limited nature of film means it will never be exactly the same, but there were scenes in the film that were similar if not in sequence, it did not loose too much of the story. The character of Lea wasn't as strong as in the books but I didn't feel it was a real detriment. I love the books and to a degree I can say usually the books are better but would watch this series again anytime. I think the only thing disappointing was the ending was very different from the book and although a little disappointed it was still within the character of the books.
kurgbe I adored the idea of L Casta in Lea because its beauty corresponds perfectly to the character of R. Desforges. Dissapointment!! The character of Lea is very insipid and lost all the ambiguity that made its originalité. The performance of the actress moreover is very limited... The scenario transformed the novel into a sirupeux mélo with the water of rose. Résultat: an anonymous telefilm which is looked at but quickly forgotten. Pity, the true Lea is attractive, not this one.
