abdul-hkm 'sura' as the title suggests,the movie doesn't look ferocious or enthralling either.this is one of the worst tamil movie and the biggest flop by vijay.the main letdown in the movie is the old fashioned nonsene bullshit awful storyline,out of the world comedy + dialogues ,poor intro and the worse...one of the biggest illogical climax scene i have ever seen so many things make sura an awful movie...like performances of tamannah is not handled well and the comedy track by vadevelu falls flat...similarly performance by other actors...the villain and the hero himself are not upto the mark...the only good thing in movie is the stylish dance moves by vijay! so to sum it up Don't WATCH THIS MOVIE...its just waste of time,waste of money,waste of everything!

SARAVANA VEL How do you expect a MASS Hero's Golden Jubilee movie be? If you want an answer you will find it at theaters screening SURA. If a perfect mix of action, comedy and dance with sentiments is the success story of a commercial movie then without any doubt one can say Vijay's Sura is a big success. People may say it is a rehash of all commercial movies and is illogical but when does a commercial movie have a different story or is logical? Vijay plays Sura, a fisherman who guides a whole hamlet (kuppam). He is daring, intelligent and cares for all the people. His thoughts are not self centric but for the benefit of the people in the hamlet. He dreams big for the people and works to achieve it.Tamannaah plays Poornima (I heard this name only once or twice in the movie), a rich girl and Sura's love interest. With an actor like Vijay being the hero you cannot expect the heroine to get a good screen presence and the same happens here. Dev Gill plays Saundra Raja, the baddie. He is a politician who is mainly into smuggling business. His interest is to build a theme park by destroying the hamlet Sura resides. This makes him to attack Sura and in turn backfires him in all occasions. He might be new to Tamil industry but in his first movie shows that he is here to stay.Vadivelu plays Umbrella, the comedian. Vadivelu and Vijay together have given a lot of rib tickling comedy that many have enjoyed and add Sura to that list. The reactions given by Vadivelu were awesome and can bet that no one in the industry can do it better than him. Just his presence can make you laugh. May be one can argue that there were one or two comedy scenes that were not in sync with the movie but it did cater the need of making people laugh.Sura The crew has done a very decent job with whatever they have got. The director, S P Raajakumar, was once known as Azhagar Malai fame Raajakumar will surely be known as Sura fame Raajakumar. There was lot of talks when he was handed the megaphone on his capabilities as a director but he has fared above all expectations. All though there was nothing new in the script the packaging was important and the director's touch can be felt in the second half.N Ekambaram, the director of photography, needs a special mention. No wonder why Vijay has chosen him for the same purpose in his next film too. He cannot be categorized in the class of Nirav Shah or Ravi Varman but needs a special mention for the way he has done his job neatly. His camera works especially in the action and dance sequences have been fabulous. This guy is here to go places and that will happen with more exposure he gets in the future.Don Max? Do any one know who he is? He is the editor of the movie. Editing a commercial movie needs lot of skill as the movie must not lose its pace. In that regard this editor from Kerala has done well. The place he has excelled is in the songs. The cuts in Siragadikum Nilavu were awesome.After talking about so many people how can we forget Mani Sharma? We have discussed about the music in the review. Although the music was refreshing it lacked what the fans expected out of this combo esp. for a Golden Jubilee movie. But the same songs with Vijay's screen presence become awesome. No doubt Mani is a genius and so is the background score. The intensity of a movie is maintained by the background score and he did it. The music for the title animation made by heart skip a beat.Pros: Vijay… Vijay… Vijay… Whatever he does is perfect. Sheer presence of Vijay on screen is the success story of the movie. The movie was fully centered on Vijay and that's the main ingredient for a 50th movie.SuraThe story is much predictable but the good thing is that they have not tried too much to experiment. Simple and powerful.Vijay-Vadivelu combo has worked wonder in the past and even now. Comedy was refreshing and rib tickling.When Vijay is there no one leave without talking about his dance. He was at his very best in Naan Nadandhal and Thanjaavoor Jillakaari. The intro song with light movements was nice to watch.This is Dev Gill's first Tamil movie and he has made a big impact. As in Vettaikaaran, the villain of Sura too has made a big impact.Stunt director Kannal Kannan has done a great stunt choreo. The fight in the ship and the one with Vijay in the Audi is done well.A special mention for the VFX team. The title animation was one of the best in Vijay movies till date and that set the whole tone for the entire movie.Cons: Main negative is the script. Nothing much can be done in a commercial story but may be its high time that Vijay tries something new. He has promised that from the next it will be different and hoping the best. But as a 50th movie nothing better can be given to the audience. If you do not have any expectations you will surely enjoy the movie.The length of the movie could have been reduced a bit by removing out of sync comedy. Tamannaah did not have any role to play in the movie but was used only for comedy and dance.In short Sura is a feel good entertainer which can cater all Masses. SURA - A TRUE LEADER.

akettavan This movie can be used as an example in film schools to teach how much a movie can be spoiled because of idolizing the heroes. Songs, fist fights, comical scenes in a random (predictably) order. The movie seems to be a product of the same assembly line on movies which was starred by the same hero. If you have watched those you can spot the same scenes getting repeated here with a different villain and heroine. I forgot to mention about the expensive sports shoes or great costumes for the hero living in sub standard living conditions. The movie also places heroines in bad light, the heroine in this movie has nothing more than to act like a beautiful person with an IQ below 70. The stunts are also very cheaply made with off the shelf fireworks.
