I get it... it wasn't a bad movie. I don't understand what the race thing had to do with the plot unless it was there to make you feel like you were the late 50's. The movie was missing something and I just can't put my finger on it.... it has a lot of potential. Wasn't a complete waste of time watching it but I understand the negative reviews.

Maybe my expectations were too high but i was really disappointed with this movie. The acting was fine and the premise was great but it just didnt do it for me

A "perfect" little all-white town gets their panties in a twist when a black family, the Mayers, move there in the 1950's. The racist people in town behave like animals, harassing them, and violently protesting and destroying property. Acting like the Mayers are bad, when in fact they are a warm and loving wholesome family. In the meantime, two white sociopaths, Gardner and Rose(Matt Damon and Julianne Moore), live next door to the black family and are murdering people.Some bad stuff has happened. The town eventually finds out about four deaths. The sociopaths are tied to them all. The rest of the town doesn't know this. However, that doesn't stop them from vilifying the black family, by saying "nothing bad ever happened here until they moved in."I think it's a bit too artsy fartsy with it, especially at the beginning. Other than that, it's a great movie, with a subject that's relevant today. If you like satirical moves with important messages about society, this movie may be for you. Or you can open your mind and give it a try. I gave it a 8/10
