John Comerford
A terrific debut film from a knowledgeable and very talented filmmaker, with convincing and intriguing characters in a strongly dramatic narrative. It's photographed and edited with a fresh and highly visual style that makes the most of the excellent cast, creating strong enigma and conflict - along with humour - as the story progresses. The scenes with the young German actress dealing with emotional pressures are particularly strong and well handled. All the young cast turn in convincing portrayals and they, like the film itself, are always watchable, as are the wide range of locations and settings. I fully recommend a viewing of this film - get in early on what I feel sure is the beginning of a quality body of work from this original young director.
