I don't know if the filmmaker intentionally wanted the audience not to be able to hear a word of this movie, or if everybody just whispers to each other in England, but I have never seen the movie were it was harder to hear the dialogue. Everybody in this film quietly mumbles or whispers to each other most of the time. I'm three quarters of the way through it, and I can honestly say I don't think I've understood a complete sentence of anything I've seen yet. Considering its very slow pacing, it adds up to a gigantic snoozefest occasionally punctuated by unexplained violence. it's very gritty, it seems almost like it might be an OK movie, if any of the dialogue was intelligible.

'Still' is a captivating and moving film. It makes you care about the characters and you find yourself rooting for a happy ending. It is an emotional roller coaster from the start and you are gripped whilst you piece together the sequence of events that lead to the heartbreaking climax. Aiden Gillen gives a deep, gritty performance as Tom Carver, a father who is losing control following the death of his son and the attack on his girlfriend Christina. His ex-partner Rachel, played brilliantly by Amanda Mealing is trying her best to support him despite his uncharacteristically wayward behaviour. Sonny Green plays Carl brilliantly. He is a character that has you hating him initially before you find yourself wanting him to be saved from his mistakes and turn his life around. Great viewing!

Brilliant socio-realist drama. Not only are the actor's performances incredibly gripping but the colour palette and the London locale illustrates the characters very real, internal struggles. From the setting to the script, it is astonishing how accurate Simon Blake portrays the lives of both adults and youths, especially in this day and age – the narrative really makes you think about yourself and about others. I was particularly impressed and amazed by the cinematography which tells the harrowing story of a man in psychological breakdown, in a creative and unique way. The film will take you on an emotional roller-coaster where the grim nature of some scenes are incredibly hard-hitting and will leave an imprint on your memory. Definitely recommend watching this film.

'Still' is a must see film written and directed by Simon Blake. It tells of a man called Tom Carver played by Aiden Gillen (Game of Thrones, Queer as Folk) whose life spirals downwards into a living hell after his only son is killed and a teenage gang persecute him with some very nasty consequences. The actors are well cast and the performances are first rate. The atmospheric cinematography from Andy Parsons perfectly captures the streets of North London aided by a beautiful, haunting soundtrack.Gillen has given several excellent performances in his career but in 'Still' he is definitely at the top of his game in a multi-layered, powerhouse performance; childlike, selfish, irresponsible but try to sympathise with him as he deals with fallout of every parent's worst nightmare. If you love realistic acting, strong dialogue and energetic direction then you have got to see 'Still'; you won't be disappointed!!
