For the first time, I thought this movie was one of the ones I anticipated for the most even I always watching the trailer itself. Well, it's not quite into my expectation but at least able to provide some good aspects of this movie. I also remember that this film is one of the most overhyped, including in Indonesia itself just because Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian which people outside of Indonesia only know them from "The Raid" movie. With all that overhyped, I just laughed because ironically, people just wanted to watch this movie just because the actors who just passed by and they didn't even understand the story because they didn't have some basic knowledge about "Star Wars." It mixed some opinions about "The Force Awakens." Some say that this movie is even worse than the prequel, some also love it. The first time I watched this movie too, I was so amazed by what was shown in this film, the nostalgic nuances, and the visual effects. The story doesn't apply in this case, for the most part. "The Force Awakens" for me is nothing more than just "Star Wars" but exceeds from my own expectations. In "The Force Awakens," a new adventure awaits the fans. The main character, Rey is a scavenger from the planet Jakku who suddenly falls to in a destiny and conflict which she had never thought of before. So, we will talk about this character first. A lot of people are called this character as Mary Sue and nothing more than that because it feels like everything by a chance, from how she controlled the force, doing a mind trick to Daniel Craig, and so skillfully at the lightsaber. So, it begs some more confused. This character also makes me wonder who is this. Is she a Luke Skywalker's daughter or are there some events before "The Force Awakens"? Well, even though I haven't seen "The Last Jedi" and "Rogue One," we will have it for the next time. Next to Rey, there is Finn, a "useless" character both in terms of story and character. The two met in a situation which was never unexpected, helped each other, and together joined into a conflict against the First Order, a new antagonist faction after Empire. When watching this movie, I think Finn is the main character in this film. However, Finn sometimes helps in participating in these misadventures along with other characters even though it doesn't change the facts.Apart from J.J. Abrams provided various nostalgic events that were formulated so well, "The Force Awakens" was actually able to attract the new generation of fans in this trilogy. Just like introducing some new characters and still keeping the old characters, "The Force Awakens" gives some fanservice which is quite satisfying so for now, I feel this film is quite memorable. For the old characters, there is nothing more than Han Solo. Before proceeding, we really knew what really happened to Han Solo considering he is one of the most memorable and most interesting characters of the whole trilogy. It's a twist that I never thought of with this character so we will never see it again for the next episode. There is Chewbacca who is still the best friend of Han Solo, quite interesting because they still love to make various jokes and puns in each scene. BB-8 is the new android in this episode with various characteristics. At first, I thought it wasn't as annoying as Jar Jar Binks or the other but BB-8 managed to attract some attention to be one of the cutest things in this film.Adam Driver as Kylo Ren is great and I guess I felt it when watching the trailer, Kylo Ren isn't as cool as Darth Vader. However, he is one of the different antagonists, being himself despite making Darth Vader as the alter ego. Kylo Ren is so cool in every scene, anywhere, and whatever. This is the character of the appearance which looks different and is less human compared to Darth Vader. When talking about the visual effects, of course, "The Force Awakens" shows a modern sensation. A great appreciation for the visual effects and things related to it. Although the used of CGI feels like exaggerating and just hanging in there, I really liked this movie from any aspect including the characters to the plot. The film didn't forget to bring everything in a memorable way including an emotional scene such as the little twist and all sorts of things related from the relationship between Finn and Rey, Poe Dameron as the badass pilot, Kylo Ren, and Han Solo, a warm meeting between Han Solo and Leia, and etc. Also, a few humor doesn't destroy the nuances of this film so that everything shown in this movie feels natural, strong, and full of conflict. For Luke Skywalker, is he being in this movie? The answer is definitely yes, but for some reason, many people are disappointed with the ending. Their reaction was almost the same as watching "The Empire Strikes Back" and just like, "I want more than anything." For me, with an ending like that, this is what we needed in a trilogy until be told to the next film. Yeah, this movie will be one of the classics along with all of its trilogy for the future where people hated it first and love it for decades. I don't know if that applies with "The Last Jedi" but, who knows? Some people also say that this episode is no more than a joke because too much humor is ruining everything. As I said, humor and stories seem balanced and didn't ruin anything. For the actors, all of them show their performance. Harrison Ford as Han Solo, as usual, is one of the characters who still maintain his style, as well as Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. Adam Driver as Kylo Ren is actually great in this movie even more. Daisy Ridley as Rey is also cool because it's so rare that "Star Wars" used female characters as the main focus. John Boyega as Finn also has its uniqueness despite being one of the "useless" characters in this film. Isaac as Poe Dameron is the badass as one of the pilots who are able to focus on the character. Bottom line, everything related to such an actor with an actress brings out their best performance."The Force Awakens" is able to attract some attention of young fans and of course adults that grown-up with the trilogy. Although this movie brings a variety of opinions, some people like it and some people hate it, "The Force Awakens" combines a nostalgia which is actually nothing more than a reboot but so memorable and remarkable. A variety of twists are given with a pretty strong emotional and humor which at least draws some laugh, this is a movie which combines all those elements. Of course, with the visual effects and John Williams' scores which are still impressed in, "The Force Awakens" is highly recommended for fans of the young generation and of course those who have followed this series for a long time.

When Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens opened in cinemas in December 2015, I thought that this was beginning of another great trilogy set of movies.JJ Abrams has never failed to deliver a brilliant movie, look at his movie CV which started off with Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, Super 8 and Star Trek: Into Darkness, it was only logical (pardon the pun) that a director like JJ should direct The Force Awakens and he didn't fail at all, I loved The Force Awakens but I don't think Han should have been killed off as it would have been great to see Luke, Han and Leia all on the same screen. The new characters pretty much held their own as well and I was impressed with Rey, Cameron Poe and Finn and overall, I definitely think that The Force Awakens deserve it's nine star rating that I have given it.I just wish I could have had nicer things to say about the Last Jedi which slipped down in the ratings and I berated Rian Johnson for his terrible script and direction...Lucasfilm definitely need to do more checking on future film directors and not let someone who has only directed a student movie and a feature film movie (Looper - 2012) come in and almost totally destroy the Star Wars franchise.I just that JJ can work his magic again and save Episode IX, I have heard that time travel is one of the possible plotlines where the Millenium Falcon goes back in time but we will all have to wait and see what happens when Episode IX arrives at the cinemas in December 2019.
