Synopsis

Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher, there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him — as well as everyone around him — as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.

zlifb What a remarkable film! The premise of the film seems quite superficial at first but as the layers are peeled back there's so much more beneath. It's a horror film without special effects gore, an action flick without any car chases. A high-tension psychological thriller for viewers with active imaginations, who don't need to be spoon-fed every explanation. The acting is top-notch, the script sympathetic, the cinematography and set fantastic, and the music/sound subtle enough not to be noticed, consciously, while building the tension inexorably. It's gripping, un-turn-away-able.Seriously impressive. I don't give 10's lightly.
keoghapril This movie has its moment when it's great. But the young female actors act like they are so dumb it really runs the movie. Kind of annoying.
elliotjeory This film is weird. People may say oh he played it well etc but for me it was too freaky and it doesn't pay off. Not worth the time.
doxxman5 A lot of people had written Shyamalan off as a director that would only do awful movies since he had been stuck in a rut for the majority of the 21st century, but these people forgot that only the good you do that matters (have you ever watched Alfred Hitchcock's bad movies? Dear god!). While 2015's The Visit returned him as a director that's a force to be reckoned with, with Split he got even better, giving us perhaps his greatest movie yet. James McAvoy may get overlooked by the Oscars for his multilayered performance, but those that pay attention know how hard it really is to pull a multiple personality disorder off and have it not be laughable.
