Synopsis

In this feature film based on the hit animated series, the third graders of South Park sneak into an R-rated film by ultra-vulgar Canadian television personalities Terrance and Phillip, and emerge with expanded vocabularies that leave their parents and teachers scandalized. When outraged Americans try to censor the film, the controversy spirals into a call to wage war on Canada and Terrance and Phillip end up on death row, with the kids their only hope of rescue.

invisibleunicornninja I hate musicals, but South Park is the exception. This movie is hilarious and the songs are probably the funniest parts. This is basically just an 81-minute South Park episode that was once available in theaters with more time than usual to comedically bring our attention to some random topic. Said random topic was, in this case, America's bizarre stance on censorship. This is one of my favorite movies, but its definitely not for everyone. If you're a child, don't like crappy animation, and don't like anything that could lead to a movie being rated R - then don't watch. I'm partially biased because I love the show, but I still recommend this movie to pretty much everyone and have seen it myself many times. Matt and Trey managed to create an incredibly fun movie, and I hope that they get around to making another one.
William Jahn This is a film that I can come back to time and time again and be entertained. It feels as if you are watching the show, but at the same time, are watching something completely unique. It acts as a compliment to the show that it is based on, and it stands even if you don't watch the show. The film parodies many subjects, such as celebrities, war, and censorship in media. The film pushes all of these to the extremes, while still remaining logical and with a point. The characters are all extremes of real people and personalities.I have had immense amounts of fun watching this film every time, noticing new things that I hadn't noticed in any of my previous viewings.Overall, I'd definitely recommend this film to anybody looking for a movie that balances multiple types of comedy and darker themes to make an overall enjoyable film experience.
brchthethird I've never been much of a SOUTH PARK fan, mostly because the same-y voices get on my nerves and the animation style isn't that aesthetically pleasing. Still, the send-up of America's morbid, puritan obsession with "smut" and "profanity" in pop culture while ignoring violence was funny and relevant. It also doesn't hurt that there are a number of hilarious songs. A lot of the humor had me scratching my head, or was mildly shocking for its audacity. However, none of it was less than interesting. This doesn't necessarily make me want to go back and catch up on 19 seasons of episodes, but maybe I'll go check out a few.
SlyGuy21 It wasn't until my late teens that I realized just how smart "South Park" was. The show's managed to survive because it changes with the times. It's topics change, it pokes fun at everything, and the jokes are constantly changing. Is every episode of the show perfect? No. But unlike other adult animated shows, this has aged the best. The message of this film is presented just how you'd think Parker and Stone would do it, but it still holds true today. And it'll more than likely be relevant for many years to come. I plan on watching every episode of "South Park" starting with Season 4, after a few other shows I want to cover. But until then, I suggest this as the starting point for people who want to get introduced to the show.
