Indeed, it is not good as the comic book but it still good as the other great Batman movie. some people may a concern about some detailing and some super natural facts (like the serum to make one MANBAT and another serum made by the same scientist to reverse the process instantly), but hey! this is a movie so they have a specified time. Unlike comic books they have to show all the story in a single movie. taking that into account the movie was awesome,. It's shows the personal life of batman, where he is a dad. the father son conversation are good, robin character portrait here brilliantly. As the movie is particularly focused on RObin how he adapting the way of "justice not vengeance". The small humerous parts where knightwing catches robin and tell batman. THE LAST FIGHTING BETWEEN DEATHSTROKE AND ROBIN IS THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE. I think it's a must watch batman movie.

Love animation and have really enjoyed to loved many superhero films, animated and live-action. Of the DC animated films, there are some good ones out there as well as some disappointments and ones that fall in between. As was said with 'Batman: Bad Blood' recently, 'Son of Batman' is one of the bigger disappointments and towards the weaker half of the DC animated films. There are good qualities here, but agree with a lot of the criticisms made and feel it could have been much better considering the characters. There was a good idea somewhere here in 'Son of Batman', it just didn't come out.Starting with the good things, the best thing about 'Son of Batman'' is the animation. There are some very nice detailed backgrounds, the characters are designed well and the colours are dynamic and atmospheric. The music is both haunting and rousing, a good fit for the film's mood. Voice acting is very variable, but Jason O'Mara continues to be a credible Batman and Sean Maher and Stuart Allan also fare well. Disliked Damien here but it was all because of the writing not the voice acting. Others do not fare well however. The worst case is Thomas Gibson's quite terrible Deathstroke. No menace or expression here, Gibson sounds like he wishes he was somewhere else and it shows in his flat line delivery and his voice doesn't fit the character, far too nice. This is a large part as to why Deathstroke fails as a villain, but there are other issues too. He is actually a very interesting character poorly characterised here, one-dimensional in an arrogant bully way, vague motivations and far too conveniently defeated. So the conflict fails to convince. The father and son relationship is not focused on anywhere near enough and when it is focused on there is no heart or any kind of emotion felt, it's just written so indifferently. If Batman wasn't under-utilised and underwritten and Damien far easier to relate to rather than the obnoxious brat he is here, it would have resonated more. The action is never thrilling or exciting, didn't feel much urgency actually and a lot of it was ridiculous with the villains defeated too easily and by what the heck means.Generally the script tends to be bland and childish, devoid of any kind of complexity, and the story suffers mainly from the film being far too short and having too much going on and too many characters to fit in. The film consequently feels rushed and then there is no urgency or intensity so it also feels dull. In summary, weakly done in most areas. 3/10 Bethany Cox

Probably "Son of Batman" isn't the best nor the most memorable animated flick of Batman, but that doesn't mean that it isn't important, you know? Because it's a story definitely worth to make a film adaptation, I mean...when I first knew about the existence of this movie, I tough to myself: "Wait! Batman has a son? WTF??? I have to check this out!"I haven't read the graphic novel this movie is based on (Batman and Son), but something tells me that almost all the hate towards this film is because it's not truly faithful to it. But, as I haven't read it, it's something irrelevant for me.But this doesn't mean that the movie has no fails. For example, a huge part of the movie is full of bloody battles, the cold attitude that Talia has even tough her father Ra's had just died (Batman fans will agree with me about the fact that Talia is truly faithful to her father and that if something happens to him, she wouldn't just throw it away). In spite of its fails, it is a highly underrated and worth to watch, because it portrays in a very decent way the paternal side of Batman that we have never seen before.

Marvel may be the current kings of the mountain on the big screen, but when it comes to direct to video animated films, it's DC that reigns supreme... well, at least their Batcentric stuff. 'Under the Red Hood', 'Dark Knight Returns', 'Assault on Arkham'; All quite good. Particularly the last two.Like those films, 'Son of Batman' is certainly not for kids. There's more death and blood in the first ten minutes of it than all of the theatrically released live action Batman films combined. Unfortunately, a weak script and poor voice acting help to keep this particular 'Son' grounded.
