Synopsis

Construction company owner John Matthews learns that his estranged son, Jason, has been arrested for drug trafficking. Facing an unjust prison sentence for a first time offender courtesy of mandatory minimum sentence laws, Jason has nothing to offer for leniency in good conscience. Desperately, John convinces the DEA and the opportunistic DA Joanne Keeghan to let him go undercover to help make arrests big enough to free his son in return. With the unwitting help of an ex-con employee, John enters the narcotics underworld where every move could be his last in an operation that will demand all his resources, wits and courage to survive.

mehrdadsmart Storyline is not bad but man the acting could not be worse. It's like they are not even trying to be good. The female roles are just pathetic i wanted to watch it until the end but man when i see the acting i want to scratch my eyes out. I don't know how it is a 6 Rock was the worst choice for this role. Not just rock, each one of them
meliz People seem more interested in his voice and discussing if the character playing his son was his real son, and how that came to be.Take a look at takepart.com/snitch - for me as a non US citizen I sort of got the feeling that the law is a bit unjust to some people. I am not saying there should not be taken action on those doing a criminal offense. But like the son in this movie, who received an package with a tracking device and could get 10 years for that. Is this how it really works, and how is that preventive and also how is that sentence justified?Just saying.Movie wasn't a top notch one, if we are to discuss that fact, but it was better than Peter Pan (that made me so sleepy).OK acting here and there, so I don't feel like I wasted my time seeing it.
LeeRob7 A surprisingly decent movie given Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson plays the lead. The main premise of the story stems from events after John's (Johnson) son is imprisoned for drug dealing leading John to use the means he has from his business to strike a deal with the local drug cartel and work with the DEA to bring down several major criminals in order to convince the district attorney to free his son from jail. I expected the odd wrestle and/or fight scene amongst mindless action and guns but what I got was far more. Yes there's some action but not involving Johnson's juiced up alter ego. It's good to see another, more human side to Johnson with him marginally holding his own as a serious actor. I say marginally because his style is somewhat wooden and flawed but none the less reasonable and fulfilling to see. Jon Bernthal is exceptional in his supporting role and Michael Williams plays a convincing criminal, as expected from one of the stand out cast members from the US series 'The Wire'. This movie is based on true events... loosely I would suggest as I doubt the lead would ascertain the success he does over such a short period, however it was compelling and enjoyable. 6/10, worth a watch!
CMTiago Snitch is a project in which Dwayne Johnson isn't an unstoppable kick ass hero. In fact the movie goes a long way to portray his character as a simple working man that finds himself in a world he doesn't necessarily belong in order to save his teenage son Jason from going to prison. I think that Johnson showcased his talent as an actor, proving that he has what it takes to sell dramatic tension to the audience. The action is a little toned down in this movie to a lesser extent, but then again I believe that the focal point of the movie was the characters and their motivations. Alongside The Rock, Jon Bernthal brings his usual intensity to Daniel James, the man who introduces John Matthews (Johnson) to the the drug world, and Susan Sarandon is good in a small part. Overall Snitch is a surprisingly well constructed movie that proves that The Rock can do drama and be quite good at it. It is very much worth a look.Rating 7/10
