Spoiler alert! I saw this with a friend some time ago, afterwards neither one of us wanted to see it ever again. This is 84 minutes of pure crap. The storyline is incredibly uninteresting. It's about this dude who lives in the middle of nowhere who for some reason feels the need to kill the few non-voluntary visitors he manage to get.The worst scene of them all is the one with the girl who's being hunted through the forest. She actually chooses to run through the water instead of running on the dry land like 3 feet to her left. And she falls down...and she stumbles...and gets up just to fall down again, and this continues for pretty much the entire movie.I don't really know what else to say about it, it's not scary at all, it's not very funny and it certainly doesn't deal with any sort of serious subjects. I like the fact that it takes place in Ireland though.

Maybe I am too old but this was a movie that I don't think should have been made. Maybe someones love interest needed a show piece? First why the hell would you travel all the way to Ireland to trip on some mushrooms? There plenty available in the U.S. Tara takes what I guess would be called a death cap and survives. This gives her "the second sight" able to see some of the future. The only problem is everyone is still tripping on the shrooms. Since there are no black people in this movie the steroid using rage freak is the first to die. They start dieing off one by one. All this from a myth that is true. There seems to be four creatures involved. The only boy to survive the massacre in the boys school because he was with the guard dogs in the kennel (from the shot of his mouth when Holly dies, a cannibal), a sadistic pedophile "Brother" of the monastery that ran the school and two very inbred woods men(?). For some reason the police show up at the end and saves Tara. She is actually the killer of everyone. Possessed? Psycho from the shroom? I don't know but I will admit the ending was a little surprising to me.

after the tripping began i hated every second of this movie. why is that? let me start with the story. its a typical teenager in the wood getting high and murdered story, with all the clichés that follows. the idea this time is that they are tripping on mushrooms, with isn't that bad an idea, but oh boy they messed it up big time. basically the story makes no sense and i had a really hard time figuring out what was happening. all the quick shifting from one location to another, and reality too dream/trip makes you confused, you cant tell what is happening. the shots are also made really badly, and you really don't see that much to the monsters (this time monks), other then a few seconds each time they appear. most you see of them is somebody walking around in a robe. i think they didn't have too much money for the effects. in all the surreal and fast edited scenes i stumbled across something weird, that i would like to point out. the one dude was killed in an old car, by a monk giving him a blow job? the writers must have been tripping. seeing how little effort and heart there is put into this s**t, it hurt me watching the nordisk film (danish film studio) logo in the beginning. when they use their money on crap like this, i don't wonder why danish film industry is in crisis. i would also complain, that i had a really hard time understanding what they where saying, especially the one character with an Irish accent, and the two hillbillies talking Irish. its okay they talk Irish, but put at least some subtitles on. or else it ruins the movie for the not Irish talking audience (the majority of the world population). but i have at least one positive thing to say about it. the settings in the woods and the light, gives it a dark atmosphere. combined with the mushrooms, there is some potential, but sadly not this time. so to conclude, i will say 1/10, because it is one of the worst made movies i have ever seen. and i will recommend potential audience to stay away from it, because you don't get anything other than annoyed, when watching it, especially if you want to see a horror movie or get scared.

You might be attracted by the somewhat unconventional, yet artistic, movie's cover (mushrooms in moonlight looking like a skull) or the subject matter (yes: hallucinogenic mushrooms), I know I was, but be wary as this film basically disappoints on more than one level. 3 guys and 3 girls (including 2 couples) basically go to a forest in Ireland to camp and trip out on wild mushrooms. However, as things tend to do in horror films, things go bad when the wrong type of mushroom is ingested and a scary local "true story" might still have consequences today. You would tend to expect some bad "tripping" being an excuse for some crazy visuals and a generally wild, thrill ride. It turns out the visuals are rather tame and not very imaginative. Some of it can be explained by the very low budget. Don't expect great visual effects. I did like the mostly subtle blurry effects at certain points making your own eyes unfocused and enhancing slightly the sense of uncertainty and unease. There were a few other nice cinematic touches such as whenever the blonde girl woke up.I wish I could have cared more about what was real or hallucinatory, but it wasn't exploited well, and I just didn't care enough to ask myself the question. You see, the blonde girl seems to have premonitory visions, you then follow her to see how true it was or not. It might be nice in concept, but in practice it kills some of the suspense. For those interested, there's practically no gore (this film being of cutting away just before the kill variety) and no nudity. I think the worst offender is that for a horror thriller, it gets boring. I've watched this film twice now in less than a year, and each time I started yawning a little over midway through. Also something to consider is that I remembered basically nothing of it on the 2nd viewing, so I would guess it's pretty forgettable fare. It's a short film, but it feels much longer and not in a good way. The pacing is sometimes too slow (especially in the house) and the "creepy" atmosphere is lacking (daylight doesn't help). The very cold, desaturated lighting and colours were probably intentional, but it made the movie less appealing. The acting was acceptable, but the fear of the actors didn't transmit well to me, the viewer. To be fair, this lack of fear factor was probably due to more important factors such as the directing and the script. The best moments involve the jerky jock tripping out: talking to a cow and what comes afterwards. It speaks volumes that this "best" part was more amusing than horrific. The scary campfire story, establishing the horror mythology, was interesting as was the clever ending. However, on third viewing, with the commentary, I saw that the director "cheated" on the filming logic (no, he didn't say it) making guessing the ending seem a little unfair instead of completely satisfying. That ending almost saved the rest, but the rest was too lacking in the first place. I'm not even sure I would recommend the film as a rental.Rating: 3.5 out of 10 (Poor)
