Showdown in Little Tokyo is an incredibly nostalgia ridden film for me. Made in the early 90s and shot in various parts of Asia this is a nice martial arts-based action film starring the tragic Brandon Lee and Dolph Lundren. They make a nice pair and the charms of early 90s cinema, also found in films like Mortal kombat and Double Impact to name a few, are in spades here. Tia Carrera is gorgeous, and the direction flows nicely. In some ways I miss such simple premised movies which have all but disappeared today. Showdown in Little Tokyo isn't a masterpiece by any means, but it is a nice film to watch if you miss nostalgic early 90s movies.

Another delightfully cheesy action movie from the guy who brought us COMMANDO and CLASS OF 1999. SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO is full of clichés from start to finish, contains an incredibly poor script, bad acting, and tons of gratuitous sex and violence. It's the classic action B-movie, absolutely hilarious in places without meaning to be, and a lot of fun with it because it's just so bad. There is no plot to this film. Lundgren and Lee are two nominal policeman, partnered up in a fight against a Japanese drug lord. The whole film consists of them battling the Japanese in one way or another. There is no police presence in this film, no other characters apart from the bad guys, the good guys, and the love interest. The script is full of dumb, occasionally offensive one-liners which nevertheless add up to make this an entertaining experience.Lester goes out of his way to deliver as much adult entertainment as he possibly can. Thus we get naked hookers being beheaded, tons of naked women around at every possible moment, Tia Carrera's body double being brought out at every opportunity. The violence is just as extreme, with people getting impaled, slashed, stabbed, gutted, having their little finger cut off, plus tons of shooting and the like. The destruction level is high. Buildings explode and burn to the ground, people are thrown through tables and windows. There's a ton of heavy weaponry and plenty of exciting martial arts fight sequences, with all the violent neck-breaking you could ever want. One of the fun things about this film is watching all the mistakes and inconsistencies play out. My favourite scenes are the dummy in the car crusher and the fight at the end, where Lundgren gets shot through the heart and shrugs off the bullet. Acting-wise, Lundgren and Lee put in extremely poor performances. Yet they kick a lot of ass all the way through the film, which is the main thing. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has a ball as the slimy, reptilian villain Yoshida – in fact he did so well in it he spent a career copying this character in many straight-to-video movies throughout the '90s. Tia Carrera is hopeless in her debut. Generally, this film is a lot of fun, despite it being shallow, brainless, clichéd, and unsurprising. Yet once in a while it's nice to sit back and chill out in front of a guy film like this.

I mean, what? Dolph Lundgren is in it, or at least on the box that the film comes in. I think I've seen this but, alcohol, so I don't know. The other guy on the box has a cool name and once played a dead bird in another movie.I thought Tokyo was a big city, but I guess it's rather little if I am to believe the title of this film.Anyway, I should see this movie again and so should you. This Saturday, your place. I will order a pizza and then when it comes, be like, "Whoa person, I don't live here, I'm not paying for this pizza that I *didn't* order." Then I'll wink at the pizza delivery man or woman (I'm PCU now) and he or she will be like, "I'm a MAN. Stop winking at me." Then, free pizza!107/10

"Showdown in Little Tokyo" directed by Mark Lester of "Commando" fame is kinda underrated action movie. People don't seem to notice that this is a pastiche of action movies. It's done with tongue in cheek attitude despite quite brutal violence. There are some truly dumb moments , bad acting and lame jokes here , but the overall ironic distance and cheesy style make "SILT" work. It's not a great of god movie , but a B-class movie that delivers what it promises – fun for action movie lovers."SILT" is fast paced and action packed movie. The story is simple and pretty much thin. Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee (son of Bruce) play cops who have to fight against evil Yakuza leader Cary Hiryouki Tagawa and save important witness - sexy singer Tia Carrere Both Lundgren and Tagawa are also connected by a tragedy from the past. There is nothing new in the story , but the whole friendship , love and vengeance themes are mixed together quite nicely. There are no really big , spectacular action sequences here . The movie is mostly memorable for delightful ridiculous moments like Lundgren jumping over a car , Lundgren picking up a car or Lundgren and Lee fighting bad guys in sauna . The best action sequence is probably the sword fight at the end of the movie. If you like a lot of action you will probably be pleased . There is plenty of fights and shootouts here , almost every 5 minutes. "SILT" is rated R and the violence is really nasty here. Some nudity (both male and female) also appears. They just don't make them anymore."SILT" is funny because it makes fun of itself (Lundgren at one point wears ridiculous "Karate Kid" outfit , the dearth scene at the end). It also makes a good use of cheesy one liners ("It crushes me" , "You have the right to die"). The movie has also quite an 80's feel to it (the nice music by David Michael Frank , the torture scene , the factory final).Dolph Lundgren is OK here , even if his acting is sometimes truly laughable ( the scene when he meets Tagawa for the first time is hilarious). Brandon Lee is also OK. Cary Hiryouki Tagawa is hammy , but works as the villain. Tia Carrere is truly an awful actress. It's also a shame that she uses a body double (who is soooo obvious that it's laughable). Watch out for Toshiro Obata ("Teenage mutant ninja turtles") as Tagawa's sidekick. If you appreciate "SILT" for what it is – entertaining , cheesy , sometimes dumb B-class action movie you should have fun. If you take it too seriously you probably won't like it. I give it 4/10.
