Short and Simple Review by WubsTheFadgerEven though this is a series, it can be viewed as a feature film. I personally liked it better viewing it as a film because it is very dynamic and the story flows much better. The first two episodes/first hour are not very good because of the dull voice acting and the confusing storyline. The last two episodes are amazing. The voice acting gets better and the story has some very powerful and emotional moments. The plot twist is strong and the ending is stunning. The voice acting gets better after episode two. The pacing is usually fast and the fight scenes are gruesome and bloody. Pros: Interesting and dynamic story, good voice acting after episode two, fast pacing, an amazing ending, some powerful and emotional scenes, and great fight sequences Cons: Dull voice acting before episode three, the story is a little confusing, and some slow pacingOverall Rating: 8.8P.S. This anime is very good. Like Deathnote and Fullmetal Alchemist, you have to willingly get engaged and be apart of the story. I would highly recommend watching this series.

During watching the whole Rurouni Kenshin series, I felt it is missing something. I think it was not serious enough, too over the top and childish. This movie fixes it all. It presents emotions and violence in a much better serious way, without the over the top stuff. Also the animation quality is way higher. If you had the same problems with the series as me, I guarantee that you will love this movie. If you have liked the series exactly as they are, you will probably miss all the fighting scenes with "super hero moves" - here it is mostly just brutal and efficient killing. It is a different genre than the series. I wish the whole series were like this.

Is living life just an atonement for ones past sins? This is the tragedy of Kenshin's life. A good soul forced into doing wickedness by others. By committing these acts he has damned his soul forever and it cannot be easily atoned for or forgotten. So he is forced to wander and to do good as penance for his evil past. Plot: Years later, during his time as a Hitokiri, Kenshin kills a bodyguard named Kiyosato Akira, who is the fiancé of Yukishiro Tomoe. The encounter with Kiyosato leaves Kenshin with the first half of his cross-shaped scar. After fighting with another assassin, Kenshin meets Tomoe. When Kenshin's cover as the shadow Hitokiri is blown, Katsura arranges for Kenshin and Tomoe to hide in the village of Otsu as husband and wife, so the two would not be suspected. After a few months, Tomoe's brother Enishi comes to visit and secretly reveals to his sister that the shogunate spies assigned to track down and kill Kenshin are close by, and that her revenge will be complete. Tomoe sends Enishi off, feeling ill at ease. It is here that Tomoe realises that she has fallen in love with Kenshin. The next day, Tomoe leaves the house and tries to persuade the shogunate men to give up their pursuit of Kenshin. Will Tomoe succeed? Will Kenshin find happiness with Tomoe? See this wonderful anime film and find out. This film is not suitable for children and persons under the age of 18 as it contains graphic killing sequences. This film is good viewing for married couples and those who have been just married, as it shows just how true love between husband and wife should be.10/10, excellent. An unforgettable story.

I am a very experienced anime watcher and i must say that this one takes the gold by far. It simply engulfs every little aspect needed to become a cult classic and (why not?) a cinematographic masterpiece. From the beginning to the very end you are entrapped in the life of Battousai the Manslayer because it offers the viewer a very profound view of his start, his training, rising and eventual end as a professional killer. The very story is made so that it captures you and it doesn't let you go until the very end, even the music is absolutely perfect. The characters are very well done and you gradually feel them evolving around the plot line, you can't help falling in love with them.I recommend the Japanese original version because it is flawless and the subs are very good, but still Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal is a must see even if you are not a anime fan, the story will grip you so hard that even after it is over you will be staring right trough the credits still thinking about the extraordinary experience you have just been through.
