aaronbir i enjoyed this movie very much its not even a box office failure its splendid good story good direction good editing i loved the songs in this moviei like each actors performancesgood music salman and his brother have both done a spectacular job in their character roles akshaye was brilliant john was good other did fine performancesmy rating will be 4/5 or 8/10 stars ****/***** or ********/**********this movie is worth watching
Ibuk What annoys me about this movie is that it could have been a classic. I mean come on this movie had so many stars in it and they couldn't afford a decent editor. I watched on a movie channel recently and with the adverts put in it was over 4 hours. I could see that the director was aiming for an epic love story on the lines of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Hum Aapke Hain Koun, which were long movies but he went too far.Another problem with Salaam e Isnq is that there were so many stories and not all of them are good, I mean what was the point of the Sohail Khan storyline. They could have cut that part out and concentrated on the decent stories. The Salman Khan- Priyanka Chopra, Akshaye Khanna- Ayesha Takia story lines were an improvement but were still quite weak Amongst the good ones were the John Abraham-Vidya Balan, Govinda storyline and the Anil Kapoor- Juhi Chawla storyline. The climax could have been thrilling but instead was a bore (I mean come on spending over 15 minutes on the climax you have got to be kidding me). On the other hand it is definitely not the worst film of the year and there were a lot of entertaining moments. The songs also were very good, especially the title song and Tenu Leke. If you have a couple of hours on your hands then you should give it a go. Could have been another Kuch Kuch Hota Hai instead becomes a Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
sandhirflora Six for the price of one! So it is a bonanza time for Cinegoers. Isn't it? Here it is not one, not two but all SIX-love stories, an ensemble cast of top stars of bollywood, plus all stories in the genre of your favorite top directors Johar, Bhansali, Chopra et al. You will get to see every damn type of love story that you enjoyed or rather tolerated for years now. So no big deal for you. Do you need anything more than this? No sir, thank you. Why sir? Enough is enough. Please spare us. They signed every top star that they manage to sign, whether required or not, so they end up making a circus of stars, believe it or not. Too crowded Every thing depicted here is exactly how it is prescribed in bollywood textbook of romances. Plus you have to justify the length given to each story, as each has stars. Therefore, it is too long-three hours plus. The gags are filmy. Characters are filmy. Problems, Barriers, situations, resolution … yes you guessed it right, again…. filmy-tried and tested. Same hundreds of dancers dancing in colorful costumes in background. Why they have no other work to do? All couples are sugary-sweet, fairy tale type, Picture perfect. All are good looking. Each story beginning in a perfect way and therefore should ends also in that impossible perfect manner? Too haphazard. You can't connect to a single story. Here you have everything that you already seen a million times. Bloody fake, unreal, escapist abnormal stories considered normal for more than hundred years since evolution of this Indian cinema. What a mockery of sensibilities of today's audience? Yes it could have worked as a parody if he just paid tribute to love-stories of yesteryear but alas even that thing is not explored. At least, Director Nikhil Advani should have attempted one unconventional, offbeat love story but then what will happen to the tradition of living up to the mark of commercial bollwood potboiler brigade? Oh! Somebody has to carry on, no. Imagine on one hand audience finds it difficult to sit through one such love story and here we have six times the pain. I mean six damn stories. I mean double the fun of chopra's Mohabbatein (Year 2000) In this age and time, get something real, guys. We are now desperate to see some not so colorful people and not so bright stories Oh, What have you said just now- come on, that is entertainment. My advice, please don't waste your time henceforth reading such reviews. Go instead, have some more such entertainment! Thank you.
Tony Tharakan Ya, ya - I've heard all about how long this movie is. But then a monumental epic never hurt anyone - as long as it's entertaining. Nikhil Advani's Salaam-e-Ishq has all the right ingredients - an incredible cast, rocking music and six delightful stories about love. The Problem? When the theatrewallah gets into scissorhands mode, viewers are in for some trying times. How did Anil Kapoor get his arm in a sling? Apparently, he fell down (a colleague informs me). But shouldn't I see it on screen instead of wondering why Kapoor is sling-free in one frame and sling-full in the next. Media reports suggest that Advani, bombarded with complaints of the film being unbearably long, decided to make a few cuts himself. Bad move cos there's nothing worse than bad editing.Anyway, that's not the only problem. Advani also has problems weaving in the six love stories together - the stitches are quite visible in some cases. My favourite couple - Govinda and Shannon. The taxi-driver falling for an American was quite an original concept. Can't say the same for the Haryanvi combo of Sohail-Ishaa though. That track could have been safely edited out.John Abraham and Vidya Balan have done some good work too and so have most of the others (including Priyanka Chopra). But Advani lacks the finesse of Karan Johar (who btw has a phone-in cameo in the film). In Johar's hands, Salaam-e-Ishq would have been gold. In his protégé's hands, the film is not the blockbuster it could have been.Watch out for Kailash Kher's 'Ya Rabba' number. It left several in the audience teary-eyed and is easily the best song of the film.
