In São Paulo, the gorgeous Julieta (Luana Piovani) is the beloved daughter of Alfredo Baragatti (Luiz Gustavo), the fanatic fan and member of the board of directors of Palmeiras soccer team. She meets the ophthalmologist Romeu (Marco Ricca), the chief of the uniformed rooting of Corinthians soccer team and the greatest rival of Palmeiras, and they fall in love for each other. Romeu pretends to root for Palmeiras to get close to Alfredo, but this lie will risk their love.I am carioca (born in Rio de Janeiro) and Flamengo (the most popular Brazilian soccer team), but I loved this movie. It is a delightful love story in the country of soccer, and I do not know what a foreigner may think about this comedy. The fanaticism showed in the story does exist between the rooters of the major soccer teams and we read and see in television many cases of death in fights between rooters. The situations are very funny, Luiz Gustavo is an amazing comedian and Luana Piovani and Marco Ricca show a great chemistry. I particularly loved two scenes: when Alfredo and Romeu are in the hospital in Tokyo watching the decision between Palmeiras and Manchester United, and in the airplane returning to Brazil. My vote is eight.Title (Brazil: "O Casamento de Romeu e Julieta" ("The Marriage of Romeu and Julieta")

I'm a Brazilian and I'm Corinthian, and I know how much the differences between Corinthians and Palmeiras are so big. The movie is very good and very funny, and its recommend to all fans of soccer! Bruno Barreto proved one more time your great competency and again the Brazilian cinema showed to the world your big potential. Luiz Gustavo ( Alfredo Baragatti ) deserves an indication to the Oscar! it's one of the best comedy i ever seen in years, so good as shaolin soccer and kung fu hustle. If you team aren't Corinthians or Palmeiras, imagine two rival teams including your team and you will laugh much more! Go see this movie now and Enjoy yourself! RATING *****/*****

It's a beautiful love story and funny comedy, set in Brazil, about a couple that fall in love and discover that they are fanatics about competing soccer teams. They can take it, but have to hide it from their families. Her father is in the board of directors of Palmeiras soccer team, while he is the president of the uniformed rooting of Corinthians. The comedy is in the day to day relationship they have to have with their families, pretending to enjoy listening derogatory comments made by their families about their team preferences. Bruno Barreto ( Dona Flor and her Two Husbands - Gabriela - Bossa Nova ) direction is superb and, all in all is great comedy worth seeing !
