Updated version of Easy Rider, with spirituality, drugs and rock n' roll! Seeing native Americans, Mexicans makes the movie and the road trip these guys are on much more realistic, and interesting, because when you are on the road you meet all types of people. Protagonists here live in the moment, often what real nomads who happen to ride motorcycle do. It's hard for most people who live a conventional way to imagine 'being' rather than doing. Loved the native spirituality in this movie, makes it a great juxtaposition of sentimentality, against the harsh background of a bikers life. That he's not just going for a long motorcycle ride... he's actually working out his grief.

This film was advertised as an intense dark thriller. But it isn't. It is so much more! The film succeeds as a sensitive and haunting true story of the human toll which a tragic flaw in our justice system is creating. We are failing to provide justice for Native American women who are abused and raped. How are they and their men forced to deal with this crass, criminal, disgusting holocaust? This story is about one man's choice.Jason Mamoa is very impressive in his role as actor, co-writer, director and producer. As lead actor, the quality of his performance in this film is of the highest caliber. He produces a fully formed human being, portrayed with a calm sensitivity that is VERY RARE. Jason gives a performance that feels real in every detail. You never catch him acting. I do wish that minutes 43-45 were deleted. Two minutes of gratuitous sex instead of the sexual intimacy that a pair of actors couldn't be more prepared to portray honestly than Lisa Bonet and Jason Mamoa. Sex is the most intense form of communication and expanding minute 47 would have given us the chance to know this most intimate facet of the character in an unforgettable way. Why didn't they go there? The story and supporting cast are fantastic with one exception. The actor playing the Federal agent descends to a caricature of the evil cop and it detracts from the film. Ignore him completely especially at the final scene. The end of the film is astonishing. It is a profound achievement the way that this scene reveals the ABSOLUTE DEPTH of the characters core belief system. From prayer to the fight for his life in just a few minutes.

There's more to Conan than one might think. Well the Conan that did not succeed that is and you might not even have seen. Jason Mamoa is more than a little bit involved in this movie. Apart from being lead, he also directed this. Which means he really stands behind this story and wanted to tell it the way it is shown. For someone multitasking, he's doing a pretty decent job. His character might have some flaws (and a lead character needs those), but the story itself does not really have them. It flows along nicely and is as spiritual a ride as you can get. Much better than another movie that came out recently, which was supposed to be a sort of sequel to "Easy Rider". I'm not a biker, but you can see what the quality of it is, with some very beautiful shots and the freedom it obviously gives you. If that is you cup of tea -> enjoy

http://tgchan.wordpress.comMovie about nothing and everything at the same time. It is slow, it makes you think about lots of things. I really liked random friendship between to main characters and the false sense of freedom they are enjoying. There is little to none action in movie so don't expect a lot from it. If you are in the mood for slow story and somehow interesting plot you shouldn't be disappointed but I bet you have not seen as many movies as I have and there are plenty of better ones to see first. You can always check my IMDb ratings of movies http://tgchan.wordpress.com/links tgchan's rating: 6.5 / 10
