Red Tails is a movie about African American men in the Tuskegee training program. Throughout this movie you can tell that the men have a special relationship with each other. This causes the movie to have an intriguing factor. Because the characters have such a strong bond with each other, anything that happens to one of them, affects everyone. Even though the actual events that happen in the movie may not be relatable to everyone, you are still able to feel the energy because the relationship the cast has with each other is indeed relatable.
During World War II a crew of African American pilots are faced with segregation, causing them to be mostly kept grounded, eventually they are called to duty by Col. A.J. Bullard. Anthony Hemingway is the director while Nate Parker, Ne-yo, Tristan Mack Wilds, David Oyelowo, Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. are the stars. This movie was shot in Slovenia, Italy, Hamilton Air force Base, Novato California and many more places. Red Tails was filmed from March 9, 2009 to July 2009 and was released in different months in 2012 all over the world. Common Sense Media has rated this movie a 2/5 , IMDB gave it a 5.9/10 and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rate of 42%.
In Red Tails the main characters are challenged along with everyone else. Nate Parker (Easy) struggles with a drinking problem which comes back to hurt him and his crew while in the air. Tristan Wilds (Junior) loses some of his sight but is allowed to still go in the air and fight, he might've been better off staying on ground but he was determined to fly. David Oyelowo (Lightening) falls in love with a spanish speaking women, but the inability to understand each other does not stop them from becoming engaged. Terrence Howard (Colonel Bullard) does everything that is humanly possible to keep his pilots in order and to make them the best they can be.
Watching the Red Tails movie you don't just get the story of the Tuskegee airmen, you get a story of African American men sticking together, fighting together and building a relationship with each other. Over the times of hardship brought upon them, these men learned to love and care for each other, not just for their own good but for the crew as a whole. This movie is about the everything the airmen went through, from being in a new country, racism, hatred, love and even the loss of some member of the crew. But most importantly the movie shines a spotlight on how these men work together and have eachothers backs through everything.
I give this movie a thumbs up and would recommend everyone to see it. Red Tails is a excellent film and its informative. You could go into the movie knowing nothing about the Tuskegee Airmen and come out knowing everything you need to. Adults and kids could go enjoy this movie, it tells the sad but also amazing story of such an important group of people but it isn't too serious that you'll walk out feeling down or saddened.

WRITE REVIEW BELOW:
Was this movie worth it? In my opinion it was not because i feel like it didn't go into depth and only showed the exciting parts and the victory. I think there were more tough things that happend. Overall the movie could have been way better and you will see why i say this if you watch.
The movie Red Tails came out in 2012 and made 50 million, written by John Ridley and directed by Anthony Hemingway. Some actors are Cuba Gooding jr., and Gerald McRaney, you would think the movie is awesome. Red tails had 9 award recommendations and won 2. It is rated 4.5 stars out of 10. This movie focuses on the tuskegee airmen, a group of all African American pilots during WWII. It shows segregation and problems they faced.
As the movie begins it shows the relationships between a group of the fighters Marty " Easy" Julian, Joe "lightning" Little, Ray Gun and Smokey. The first part of the movie starts with showing how the Red Tails weren't getting any missions that involved actual fighting. As the movie continues it shows how they started getting opportunities to fight and protect some of the bombers.
The best parts in this movie is the fighting scenes. The fighting parts and the sound effects seemed so real, that you will think it was real. Another good part is when Ray Gun got held as a prisoner of war at concentration camp, for me it showed a different side because I didn't know much about Prisoners of War. I would give this movie a 4.5 out of 10, it could have been way better and had so much more potential.
In my opinion this movie is more entertaining than factual, i would recommend this movie to a group of 7-13 years old. There were some good parts like the fighting and that's about it. If i didn't know anything about the red tails i would have found it way more interesting. I don't think the movie showed much of the trails and hard times they faced, the film could have included much more on what they had faced being black pilots during WWII.

For starters an ALL BLACK MALE CAST retelling the story of Tuskegee Airmen who were in the war, flying or not. The movie Red Tails is an amazing movie, that finally captures and embodies many of the emotions, and experiences of the African-American pilots of the 1940's. I really enjoyed this movie, it was entertaining. The air-to-air combat scenes were pretty amazing. And the special effects blew me away. It manages to do it in a way that is somewhat sentimental, but also successfully conveys the much needed to be heard aspirations of African-Americans to be respected within society. I believe the movie somewhat connects the some present day conditions. Critics seem to be purposely under rating the movie in an attempt to debase the movie's relevance, for whatever skeptical reasons, but because the movie is exceptionally well done, like the African-American pilots of the Tuskegee experiment, success of the Red Tails movie is inevitable.

A very good, historical film and shows the overcoming, beyond its own limits, the racial problem that is meaningless in humanity and lived in intensity here. A very exciting film, and also shows the differences of personalities and where it leads to each, uauuuu, there is heart! I recommend!!!The filmmaker is American and Black, Anthony Hemingway Underground (2016) and American Crime Story (2016), I hardly know him, he works a lot in TV series. The protagonists are excellent Cuba Gooding Jr. Love Beyond Life (1998), Best Is Impossible (1997) and Talented Hands (TV Movie of 2009), among others and many others, full of beautiful stars in this film.
