In this HBO flick, the Sheen brothers - Charlie, and his brother, Emilio Estevez - portray the Mitchell brothers, early pioneers of porn films. For an HBO film, it's not terrible. For an HBO film, it's got the requisite T&A. As Emilio plays Jim Mitchell, the directing Mitchell brother, so does Emilio - who directed X RATED.Biopics have a difficult task. No matter the subject, they've to compress time into under two hours. The usual cues of time passing (period music, flash-forward montages) are all here. As I said, it's not terrible (personally, I think Charlie Sheen, playing coke addicted Artie Mitchell) snorting mountains of the 'white lady,' is a parable to his real life's pattern. Since the whole story follows a familiar format (quick, early years, long central part, focusing on the rise of the character, then relatively short conclusion to end film) many of the other actors' characters are on and off screen so fast, that they mostly go by in a blur, with the Mitchell's being the only consistent characters throughout. It doesn't allow for anyone to develop anything substantial with their character. They're more telegraphing their role. There's not much to 'feel' for anyone. All-in-all, it's a(nother) Cliff Notes bio film.

I caught this movie on a movie channel not knowing what it was, never even heard about it or the Mitchell brothers. And to tell you the truth I didn't expect very much of it. I have always considered Charlie Sheen to be a quite bad actor and can you name one single movie Emilio Estevez has made since young guns? But to my pleasant surprise the movie turned out to be pretty good. Ok it was a bit slow sometimes, but overall it's a quite interesting story about 2 brothers rise and fall. To bad that both of them lost it and messed everything up, but hey, you can't change a story that is based on a true story, right? I give this movie 3 points out of 5 possible. These brothers life caught my attention I will definitely read the book now.

Don't know what Mr. Estevez was thinking; but he wasn't thinking about the script. The script is so full of holes; scenes that start and don't end, whole story lines that are set up but don't get resolved. This is just awful. The worst part is that both the Sheen brothers do a pretty good job of acting, it's just that the story never really goes anywhere and the fancy photography doesn't make up for it.

Although this film has an off-putting title, people may actually be quite surprised at the content. Yes, it is about the porn industry, but has other subjects and deeper meanings. The Mitchell brothers (Sheen and Estevez) are in business together as San Francisco's porn kings. Controversy follows as the general public do not approve of them. Apart from the frequent sex scenes at the beginning of the movie, this film escalates into a deeper subject of family feuds. You find that you don't particularly like the characters, but are still interested in what happens to them. It is a rather sad ending. The film, in it's directorial aspect, is very well done.Although not the best film Estevez has directed, I was glad to have seen it.
