This movie is strictly for SRK fans. I am rating this movie as a neutral cinema lover, as all SRK fans rated it 10. First of all, this is SRK's best performance since Don 2. There are many plot holes if you apply minimal logic and script was also very weak. Nawaz as inspector and SRK as Raees saved this movie. Mahira Khan's role could have been played by any Bollywood actress. Nothing felt special about her performance.

The hero should romancing with the girls half her age. Taste less item songs, rubbish and crappy story line. Stupid plot.Only worth the money was Nawaz Siddique was a delight to watch.Seems like the movie was promoting riots and making a hero out of negative character. Glorifying illegal activities such as alcohol selling.

This is a moderately good time-pass film. Shah Rukh Khan who plays the titular character Raees, give a professional acting display. He plays a sort of hero/anti-hero role in the film. He has portrayed negative roles in the past in films like Baazigar and Darr both released in 1993, Anjaam 1994, Ram Jaane 1995, Duplicate 1998 and the Don films 2006 and 2011. The other good actors in the film are veterans Atul Kulkarni and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Plot in brief: Raees, from Fatehpur, Gujarat gets involved in illegal liquor trade at a very young age. Along with Sadiq, Raees works for a notorious gangster Jairaj, smuggles alcohol illegally by bribing the police. Though he is a smuggler, he lives by the philosophy, as taught by his mother that every occupation is good, and no religion is greater than any occupation till it does not cause any harm to anyone. He decides to part ways with Jairaj and start operating on his own. He meets Musabhai and Nawab in Mumbai, and with their help he starts his bootlegging business. Meanwhile, an honest police offer of the IPS cadre, J. A. Majmudar, wants to end this illegal liquor trade.Watch the film to see what happens next...Direction, photography and background sound effects are what you expect of Bollywood movies these days. The movie began well but later on, began to seem farcical. Some of the action scenes in the film let the movie down as does the latter part of the script. Another veteran Bollywood actress cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan would have served the movie better. A good choice would have been Priyanka Chopra.

*****SPOILER ALERT***** Raess tells the stories of two men pitted against one another in a situation that corrupts them both. Shah Rukh Khan plays the title character, a bootlegger who tries to be an honest businessman in a dishonest business. Initially unwilling to murder for hire, he is eventually tricked into facilitating a terrorist bombing that takes innocent lives and finds himself the target of a business rival. He reacts with violence, killing the men responsible. Through bribing local police and government officials, Raees appears to be untouchable. Only one man, ACP Majmudar (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), refuses to be bought. He tries everything in his power to stop Raees' criminal activity, only to be blocked at every turn by corrupt officials. Finally, the incorruptible cop realizes that he can't stop Raees by working within the justice system. Rather than admit defeat, he steps outside the system and murders Raees.
