cloach For science fiction content, this is the best sci-fi movie. This is a real world solution to meteorites. Hit them with a microwave beam to cause out-gassing which causes the meteorite to redirect its path. This what science fiction should be about one scenario and one technology. Untried technology has awry results. Meteorites lead to ice ages. The CGI looks like CGI. Nice female presence who get to some "acting" on scene even if its a little forced. To people who think cold is bad, for items- cold keeps equipment in excellent condition- keeps humidity right down and decay e.g. Lawson's Hut has survived 50 years. Freezing temperatures are only bad for animals and plants and some metals if stressed.
Chris (murray-cd) When Dean Cain is the lead actor in a TV movie, your hopes aren't high for the quality of the flick. Surprisingly however, Cain gives a decent (if uninspiring) performance, and more than any other, it's the performance of sexual interest Joanna Clark that hurts the film the most. The former model has less on screen appeal than a squashed tomato, and the idea of her as a tough-as-nails ex-SAS operative is absurd to the point where more militant reviewers might consider it an insult to the group. Clark's best scene takes place in a public shower, where her breasts do most of the acting.Luckily (at least for her), Clark is not the stand-alone fault of this film. No one would expect the dialogue to be Sorkin-esquire, however even the most cynical would have hoped for something that rose above the level of a nine-year old. There is neither the lighting-pacing of The West Wing nor the accessibility of a Bruckheimer flick. Put simply, the exchange between the characters makes you wonder at the possibility of basements filled with monkeys and typewriters. For movies which fail to the degree that PI does, the most obvious target for blame is the director, and in this case that's Christoph Schrewe whose biggest Western credit to date is Lexx. But with such a lacklustre script and a casting director that one can only guess had personal reasons for wanting to tank this film, you wonder what the best result could have been. You could do worse than watch PI, but no matter when it is shown on TV, you could always do better on another channel.
lowmant I think this movie was worth watching for the entertainment value alone. Others have really ragged on it as being so bad they could hardly watch it and how it was so hard for them to even write their review comments. Well to them I ask this : What did you expect? You knew it was a "B" class movie and starred Dean Cain. All his foreign made films are about the same style. I like them; he is not a bad actor and all his co-stars were OK too. The thing people forget when they watch "B" movies is that they have to make the movie on a very low budget and make the payroll too. Now I say if the movie has a good story line and the plot is coherent and you like the stars then it is a movie worth the time to watch. Besides it goes along with the other class "A" movies made this pass year on the same type subjects "Category 7" and "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Deep Impact" etc. This make a nice addition to anyones collection. It may not be the best one of your collection but I have seen a lot worst. Dean Cain has appeared in many movies of this type and if you like this one at all you should try a search on his name for the others he made, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
ericablake This is by far the worst movie, in the history of movies, All these actors should post their resumes in search of new jobs, cause they can't act worth a damn.. The plot could have caught my attention, with the right actors and a good director. It sounds like someone made the sound affects with a kazoo. It seemed like an Atari video game, who designed the graphics in this movie? Horrible, is all that come to my mind. Don't watch this movie, don't' waste your damn time, or money. I hate this movie, I hate the actors, I hate the so called special effects, I hate the colonel, I hate the blonde chick, (she was a tramp) I hate the father, and I hated everything about this entire movie, I cannot believe there is even a movie like this in the 2000's. It is a lot more than a shame.
