PHOENIX FORGOTTEN is a pretty interesting addition to the overworked found footage genre of film. It ably mixes the science fiction and horror genres and has some nice nostalgia value for those of us who were X-Files fans back in the 1990s. The story is one of mysterious disappearance and strange lights in the sky; the usual alien abduction route, then, but one done with appropriate eeriness. Much of the tale plays out in 1997 and I liked the way that the filmmakers shot on digital, copied their work to VHS, and then re-recorded to digital to give it an appropriately dated look. The performances are adequate and the narrative, although drawn out a little, comes together nicely for a BLAIR WITCH-style climax.

I thought that the film was decently made, even though I personally prefer films that use a higher quality camera when it's mostly filmed with hand-held cameras. The story was a bit shambled and sometimes hard to understand. It was also a bit generic and seemed liked a low budget film.

Not all that bad of movie but really slow. The last half of the movie started to pick up and last thirty minutes are pretty fun. So this Phoenix Lights event did really happen and it's been quite a mystery for a long time. So the part about the whole movie that's really fkkd up, is the night of Phoenix Lights; four men actually went missing, Mitch Adams, Ryan Stone, Glenn Lauder and Jacob Reynolds and never a trace was found of their bodies. They never even honored these dudes at the end. They stole their story and turned it into teenagers to sell it to a younger market. Ridiculous, you literally had a true story and just Frankensteind it....??? It's this unsolved case that gives fuel to the possibility that they may have been abducted that night by the occupants of the UFOs. Whatever, so use to bad ideas and sceen writing these days.

After seeing the trailer, I figured this would be one of those movies I'd see if nothing else was on, and so I did. I have to say, I was really impressed! The story was eerie and well done and acted. It seemed very real as if the events actually happened. Thankfully I saw it before reading all the negative reviews, or I may have missed out watching this. Not sure what everyone expected, but this was a fun and well put together movie!
