Nadine Salakov Passenger 57 and Red Eye are the only aeroplane thrillers worth watching. Passenger 57 movie plot is a bit over the top, but the majority of it is standard, the most ridiculous part is the bad guy that has complete facial changes, the line "he keeps changing his face" is just off and for a moment it's difficult to take this film seriously, but as the movie goes on it becomes very interesting, the good performances outweigh the mullets, 90s clothes and Casio keyboard music, i love my film scores - but this film score soundtrack composed by Stanley Clarke takes some getting used to.The small plot twist before everything kicks off is actually surprising, Elizabeth Hurley starting the chain of events by shooting someone is unexpected, but when you watch this movie more than once and pay closer attention there are major clues that she is working with the bad guys. There's a particular scene where race is mentioned and makes no sense whatsoever, the line "it's a black thing" pops up, as a Black British person to this day i do not get what that scene and that stupid line even means, maybe it's an American thing, but i doubt it, the white guy wants to know why the lady (who is black) flirted with Wesley Snipes character and not with him, did it ever occur to these people that she is only attracted to black guys?! It doesn't have to be "a black thing", it's simply "a preference thing".There's some martial arts thrown in which makes this film more watchable. Passenger 57 is not much of an action flick, there's rarely any shoot em up scenes, this is more of a thriller. If you want a good aeroplane thriller, check out this movie.
tieman64 Once upon a time there was "Die Hard" (1988), a film in which a wisecracking hero battled terrorists within the cramped confines of a skyscraper. This formula would lead to "Die Hard" on a boat ("Under Siege", "Speed 2"), "Die Hard" on a train ("Under Siege 2"), "Die Hard" on a bus ("Speed"), "Die Hard" on a mountain ("Cliffhanger"), "Die Hard" in a mall ("Point Blank"), "Die Hard" in a ski resort ("Icebreaker"), "Die Hard" in a school ("Masterminds"), "Die Hard" in a stadium ("Sudden Death"), "Die Hard" in the White House ("Olympus Has Fallen"/"White House Down"), "Die Hard" in the President's personal plane ("Air Force One"), "Die Hard" in a prison ("The Rock"), "Die Hard" in an airport ("Die Hard 2"), "Die Hard" in a city ("Die Hard 3") and "Die Hard" in a plane ("Passeger 57", "Executive Decision").Directed by Kevin Hooks, "Passenger 57" stars Wesley Snipes as John Cutter, a butt kicking law-man who's having the worst damn day of his life. We watch Cutter beat up terrorists, do crazy stunts and wade through a film rife with 1990s mullets, epic Casio keyboard music, zany clothes, gold earrings, giant shoulder pads, Michael Jackson doubles, Arsenio Hall jokes and tons of cheese. Strictly by-the-numbers, Snipes elevates some moments with his real-life martial arts skills. The film co-stars Tom Sizemore as a guy who delivers exposition.6/10 – Worth one viewing.
Marcelo DaSilva Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I found Mr. Snipes portrayal of John Cutter, as a hard-working, kick-ass anti-terrorist agent with a heart of gold, very convincing. Mr. Snipes work and talent has been sorely underrated. He is a first-class actor who can hold his own with the likes of Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel and others of that genre. The fight scenes appeared to be done by Mr. Snipes and were well-conceived and acted. And while the movie does not directly address issues of race it is implied, for example in a scene where he is mistaken as one of the terrorist. When he tries to explain he is a law enforcement agent he is immediately believed to be lying, primarily because he is black. I believe the movie should have a higher rating. Hollywood should develop more roles for this very talented actor.
SnoopyStyle Charles Rane (Bruce Payne) is a ruthless terrorist. The FBI manages to capture him right before he is able to get plastic surgery. Former secret service agent John Cutter (Wesley Snipes) is still haunted by his dead wife. His old friend Sly Delvecchio (Tom Sizemore) gets him an airline security job. Marti Slayton is the brash flight attendant. They are flying out to L.A. Also on the plane, Rane is being transported accompanied two FBI agents. The problem is that Rane's people are also on board and they're armed. Cutter forces the plane to land. This is simply a fun action thriller. The script has a lot of action and the . It doesn't necessarily take it too seriously. Wesley Snipes delivers the action and Schwarzenegger-worthy one liners. "Always bet on Black!" There is enough wild action. Bruce Payne is terrific. He milks every insane Bond villain move. It is a lot of fun especially if you don't try to dissect everything.
