I think this movie tries hard but besides the few scenes with Katie, it doesn't have much scare factor. Is this a sequel or prequel? I liked the 1st one and I don't think this tries to be a copy of that. It's just pretty tame for most horror fans. Not awful but not good either. I am partial to Part 3.

A-Z Horror Movie of the Day..."Paranormal Activity 2" (R - 2010 - US)Sub-Genre: POV/ParanormalMy Score: 6.4Cast=5 Acting=7 Plot=6 Ending=8 Story=5 Scare=4 Jump=7 F/X=7 POV=8 Creep=7After experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem. "I don't know if the house is haunted, but I hope it is." Famous last words I know...this sequel was a little bit better and a little bit worse, but ultimately got a similar score. The format is the same...slow slow slow and then HOLY CRAP at the end. It was still fun, but after this movie I stopped seeing these on the big screen. This is still POV crack and I love it, but it's not worth seeing unless you are a fan of POV and the franchise.

Whilst taking a look at the Horror section on Netflix,I was surprised to discover that the site had all (apart from the first) of the Paranormal Activity movies on.Since having seen the first one on DVD,I decided that it would be a good time to experience the Netflix Paranormal. The plot-2005:Shortly after moving into their new home, the Rey notice that when they are out of the house objects and items move or disappear.Suspecting a repeat burglar, the Rey family install a CCTV system to catch the person red handed. As the nights go by,the Rey's see no sign of the burglar, but continue to experience strange events in the house, which starts to make the Rey's fear that something paranormal may be involved. View on the film:Replacing original choice Kevin Greutert, (who got stuck in a contract which led to him having to direct Saw 3D instead) director Tod Williams & cinematographer Michael Simmonds replace the grainy video of the original with a crisp digital format.Whilst this presentation does give the movie a shiny glaze,it also drains the title of eerie atmosphere, due to all the shocks that take place being clear to see,and leaving no haunting sense of doubt behind.Expanding from a couple to a family unit, the screenplay by Michael R. Perry/Christopher Landon & Tom Pabst knots mythology making threads with home invasion chills.Covering every room of the house, the writers disappointingly clip the title of an anxious horror atmosphere,by including too many interchangeable family members who take away closed-off mood that the house should offer from another paranormal invasion.

Set before & after the events of the first film, the second chapter in the Paranormal Activity series is a parallel sequel that follows a suburban family which decides to install numerous security camera in their home, following what appears to be a break-in attempt, but soon discover that the events unfolding in their residence are far more sinister than it seems.Directed by Tod Williams, Paranormal Activity 2 is virtually the same as Paranormal Activity for it follows the very route that its predecessor did and is connected to it by a thin thread. It's got nothing that we didn't see in the last picture, the direction is lazy & uninspiring, the entire script exists on a single page and the only improvement is a much better pace.On an overall scale, Paranormal Activity 2 is an inferior follow-up that lacks the freshness of the original, offers nothing interesting for the majority of its runtime, and is simply a rehash of the events that transpired in the first film. Fans of the original may still find it entertaining or spooky but if you are hoping to find something new here, then Paranormal Activity 2 will disappoint you for it's the same old material in a new package.
