shinsrevenge I felt so furious during the first 20 minutes. Not at the movie, but at what happened there. A movie star (Laramie) and his family become the targets of ruthless Paparazzi that do anything for a "good" story. Yet you can't deny the argument of Rex Harper, the leader of the Paparazzi group, when he explains his reasons and thinking to a random woman he met. He says that people don't approve his means, but are just fine with the reading and watching the results. They want the outcome, but nothing have to do with how it was achieved. That's a strong message and it has you thinking. Good job with that. Anyway, the group of "evil" Paparazzi causes the actor and his family to get into a car accident. His wife gets wounded and his child is in a coma. As fate or luck would have it, another accident causes one of the Paparazzi to get in mortal danger, his life depending on the helpfulness of Laramie. So far, so good. But for some reason they decided that the Paparazzi would threaten to destroy more of Laramie's life even before he was saved. Given the deviousness and slyness they had shown so far, this is highly unrealistic and unbelievable. Necessary for the plot, maybe. But it doesn't make any sense. Same goes for the second Paparazzi. While he is stopped by the police and tries to draw the driver license out of his jacket, he pulls out a gun instead. A gun that Laramie placed there so that the police would shoot the Paparazzi. Yeah right, because a gun feels just like a driver license. "Oh, that feels weird. I better get it out and check what it is. Right now!" Meanwhile an older detective tries to figure what's behind all the accidents, starting from the first one early in the movie. But it takes him an hour to even think about checking the traffic cams for proof of what's really happened. Because when there's a traffic accident in the middle of the city with unclear guild party (and one fatality), the traffic cams are apparently the last thing you'd check. Stupid. Sadly that describes big parts of movie. Well, it did have a good start and the end was kind of okay. All things considered it's about average.
Ben Larson I really don't know what the training program is for directors, but doing Mel Gibson's hair must be on the career path. Director Paul Abascal has more experience as a hair stylist than a director, and it shows. The film doesn't appear to flow smoothly, and you never knew where it was going.I get a kick out of revenge flicks, so I give it a recommendation, but only if you catch it on cable.Dennis Farina had a "Columbo" part in the film, and was the best thing going.Tom Sizemore was the one you kept waiting to get his.
wes-connors America's newest millionaire superstar is handsome carpenter turned action hero Cole Hauser (as Bo Laramie), star of the mega-hit "Adrenaline Force". Though swarmed by fans and "Paparazzi" in public, Mr. Hauser is privately a very nice family man, devoted to loving wife Robin Tunney (as Abby) and cute son Blake Bryan (as Zach). Probably, in a few years Hauser will be trading them in for a young supermodel, but wait for that to be revealed in the sequel… Presently, Hauser is hounded by sleazy tabloid photographers like Tom Sizemore (as Rex Harper) who publish nude pictures and report Hauser's had a "penile enhancement." They print pictures of little Bryan without permission (or payment). Worst of all, they stage a "Princess Diana" car crash to threaten the lives of Ms. Tunney and Bryan. Since punching the photographer in the nose doesn't work, Hauser decides to get rough with Mr. Sizemore and his scummy pals.Who could better mediate the war between sleazy photographers and snotty celebrities than ace detective Dennis "Columbo" Farina (as Burton). While Mr. Farina sniffs around mysteriously dropping dead photographers, Bryan remains in a coma, director Paul Abascal films "Adrenaline Force 2", and Hauser meets producer Mel Gibson in anger management. Matthew McConaughey, Chris Rock, and Vince Vaughn are other actors appearing in small roles.*** Paparazzi (9/3/04) Mel Gibson : Paul Abascal ~ Cole Hauser, Robin Tunney, Dennis Farina, Tom Sizemore
marcus_stokes2000 *Paparazzi On SPOILERS* When Bo Laramie (Cole Hauser) got his big break in Hollywood, he thought he was ready for everything, good or bad, but a quartet of particularly vicious paparazzi (so what, they have a professional ethic too), ready to do ANYTHING for a scoop (I think those are called 'Stalkerazzi'); they are Rex Harper (Tom Sizemore), Wendell Stokes (Daniel Baldwin), Leonard Clark (Tom Hollander) and Kevin Rosner (Kevin Gage). For a hot photo they manage to cause an accident in which Bo gets hurt, his wife Abby (Robin Tunney) is left in need of instant surgery and his son Zach (Blake Bryan) is left in a coma. And after having seen the latest fake news about him and his family, Bo snaps and goes after the paparazzi...A nice little movie, with an original twist on the 'personal revenge' thriller subgenre, 'Paparazzi' manages to keep the viewer's attention, and also leave a little impression. It may be no classic, but it's certainly a good movie. And pay attention to Mel Gibson's ironic self-reference as a waiting patient in Bo's therapist's waiting room. And let me say that he needs it...Paparazzi: 8/10.
