Ed-Shullivan Besides writer/director JT Mollner deciding to create his own unique vision of a western where the three fugitive bank robbers hold a preacher named George Tildon (Ben Browder), his wife Ada (Teri Polo) and two daughters hostage the bank robbers have a continuing dwindling posse chasing them and the story just gets weirder and weirder. The posse chasing the bank robbers is led by Josiah (Luke Wilson) who tries to lead his posse through intimidation and with idle threats but quite frankly he cannot even protect himself from of all people, the preachers half dead wife? Then there is the leader of the bank robbers named Henry (played by Chad Michael Murray) who takes a shining to the preacher's youngest daughter Florence Tildon (Francesca Eastwood) who has some secrets she wants to share with Henry. In other real suspense films, the director/editor will purposely lower the actors voice so as to hold the audience's attention but this director, JT Mollner took this approach to extreme with his star Henry (Chad Michael Murray). Not only does Henry's voice come to almost a whisper, he mumbles most of his dialogue such that I thought the film would need to include sub titles because the quiet language Henry was whispering/mumbling was certainly not English no matter how many times I attempted to rewind what the heck he was mumbling. If you enjoy seeing faces and heads being riddled with bullets and brain matter landing on the shooters own face then maybe you could be remotely satisfied. Or maybe incest, or male on male anal sex is your thing, then this film may appeal to you. I found it disgusting for a western and I do not object to violence just to sensationalism for garnering false attention. The dialogue was also very boring and extremely slow moving but I still hung in there which is why I did not rate the film any lower than a 4 out of 10. At least the ending was a bit of a surprise which I will not divulge so that you can also sit through the entire film and see if you agree or disagree with my review.
lovettstough This is an absolutely terrible movie which surprises me beings Clint Eastwood daughter is one of the main characters & if this movie is to showcase or debut Clint Eastwood daughters acting then it failed because her acting in this movie is terrible. She would have been better off if she wanted to act in a country & western movie to do so in one that her father produced & or directed. If I'm not awake for the end of the movie beings it is that bad I hope the outlaws & Clint Eastwood daughter character all die in the end.
cyberd-250-423241 OK, It is, shall I say, a very eclectic movie. I keep coming back to this movie and once I got over the graphic nature shown throughout, I begin to see it as a real gem. Francesca Eastwood is absolutely incredible. What is it about her that is so fascinating? Beside really good acting? The score is way out in "left field" but, I really like it now. I also like how it was shot and the colour grading too. Both fairly traditional for a Western. Arriflex 435. Cult movie? it may very well be!
v-ley Francesca is not ready for this kind of "leading" role. The movie, although made on a short budget, at least I'm giving them the benefit of doubt here, was just okay. The story line is simple and rings very true for that time period, the dress and make-up also, but the action and words just didn't cut it for me. If this was supposed to high light someone's career, it didn't. Francis Fisher's acting was the only truly professional role and it didn't last long enough and no one said a word about those people, not a single word. It could've been a great spaghetti western but it turned into something not so well done or memorable. I'm so disappointed when an Actor's child (Francesca) assumes they can act as well or better than their parents ( Scott Eastwood) and just can't. I didn't realize his other Daughter was in it until the final credits were scrolling, her make-up was done that well. But even she either over re-acted or under-acted. It is a waste of time if you really want believable entertainment. Save it for a day when you have nothing else to do.
