I've had cancer, in my 20s. This movie has never failed to move me to tears. It has never failed to capture the complexity of the decisions ( as a bollock cancer survivor). And it's Canada - one of the most gorgeous places in the world. And it's Josh Jackson, who does an amazing job. And.... Basically, this movie is a tear-jerker, but a good one. Or even a great one. From a more critical perspective, it's a rather slow movie that generally focuses more on video montages than plot, and whose characters are pretty 2D. At times you wonder if the Canadian tourist industry paid for it. Actually, I'm stuck at this point. It's still great. The voice-over can be cheezy, but works well. The characters are more than enough to tell the story. And all the leads do amazing jobs. And it really rings true, in so many ways. All told, you should really watch this. It's enjoyable. But also somehow taps into a load of feelings I hadn't realised I had.

### Couple of spoilers here so watch out if you're going to see it ### This film follows a young man's journey across his homeland of Canada after he receives some bad news. He decides to escape for one week of freedom before facing the music, much to the consternation of his fiancée and family.Over the course of the journey he meets some people, sees some sights, and reflects on his life, and his relationships with his fiancée/family. The whole thing is intermittently narrated by an unrelated third person, who talks you through flashbacks of the main protagonist's life, and provides other helpful trivia about him & the places he's visiting. Now I read that some people were annoyed by the narration. Got to say it didn't annoy me at all - felt it added a lot to it actually - some very interesting facts, and some fun stuff. Without all that I think it would have been a bit dry actually. In fact I'd go as far to say it's a clever mechanism for connecting you more with the main character. As you might expect, you get some nice shots of the Canadian countryside, though I felt that could've been exploited to better effect with the right shots.Everyone's different but I personally found it really hard to imagine an engaged guy in his predicament trying to hop in the sack with every woman he sees. Didn't sit right with me, unless the guy's a total slimeball which this character doesn't seem to be in every other respect. Just goes to reinforce the annoying Hollywood myth that any guy will try to do that with any girl he meets, regardless of whether he's married, in a relationship etc. Hey maybe there's some guys like that but I really don't think most are. Anyway I'm not so I don't care for the stereotype and it killed the movie a little for me.All in all, it's a relaxed, no brainer, kinda feel-good film ... yet tinged with an upsetting issue throughout. That said, it handles said upsetting issue in about as non-depressing fashion as possible. Not overly sentimental either. It doesn't try to be anything clever, just tells the story, which is a bold and welcome move these days. The main actors are pretty good, the cinematography's decent enough, and there's some cool music along the way. Oh and I thought the ending was a nice touch. How to classify this film? - sort of like Straight Story meets Dying Young(which I literally just found out starred the narrator of this film - knew I recognised that voice from somewhere!).

This is another movie that if I did not have Netflix I most likely would have never seen. Having Netflix has led me to some really good movies like this one that I am so glad to have seen. This movie grabbed my attention with the opening scene so much so that I stopped it, called my wife in and asked her to watch it with me. I restarted it and not only did we enjoy watching it, but occasionally paused it to discuss the scene we had just watched.Numerous times we laughed out loud during it and other times our eyes watered up. What a well told heart touching movie. Joshua Jackson did a great job in his role. I actually am one that thinks that Joshua Jackson, James Van Der Beek and Michelle Williams from the TV show Dawson's Creek are very good actors, though James has not been given the break he needs yet IMO. My wife and I both recommend this to others to watch and enjoy. Who knew there were so many statues in Canada? Another movie that I say "well done" and am glad to have spent some time to have watched it.

First of all, yes I am sap! lol Truthfully I watched because of Joshua Jackson. I am so thankful I did.So many times, actually inevitable for every human being, we get caught up in our day to day lives, take absolutely everything in our lives for granted, ourselves, life, our kids, family, friends, jobs, electricity, God, everything. This movie puts things into perspective. What if you only had one day, one week, one month. I don't know about everyone else, but I know for me, that isn't enough. We are not promised our next breath whether you believe in the Lord, or any higher power or non at all. Bottom line anything could happen at any time. After this was over, I just sat there and thought for a long time to myself. This movie said to me, WAKE UP!!!! Life is passing you by, you take too much for granted, LIVE, tell the people you love that you love them, don't settle just because its easy. I think everyone should see this flick! Excellent insight. Not to mention the beautiful scenes of Canada. I am from Kansas, never been to Canada. Absolutely gorgeous.Great movie, greatly written, great acting. The whole nine yards. Yes it is a little slow. So what, slow down and enjoy a little bit of life!!!
