I was really hoping for something good with this film. Sadly, it was the complete opposite. I feel like the film fell flat from the start. It was disjointed and felt more like individual skit than a whole film. I hated the way Middleditch narrated the whole way through the film. It felt pointless. A good film shouldn't have to have someone explain to the audience what's happening. The jokes and comedy felt forced, I felt like I was expected to laugh instead of finding the comedy belly laughing funny, however watching Bruce Willis skateboarding naked and then clenching a gun between his butt cheeks was priceless.Looking at the cast you would automatically expect thi film to be good. Willis, Goodman, Mamoa, all great actors, just not in this particular film. I could hardly understand Mamoa when he spoke and as for Willis and Goodman, they honestly looked like they were just going through the motions of acting their parts, there appeared to be no efforts from them at all. Definitely not the performances you would expect from these actors.Sadly for me this film is not one that I would recommend anyone to watch.

After spending the past few years almost exclusively appearing in direct to DVD movies in small roles that were each knocked off in just a few days of shooting, Bruce Willis here returns to playing a lead role. Though he was sleepwalking in those other movies, Willis here is clearly giving it his all for this movie, having a lengthy nude sequence and later appearing in a dress, among other commitments to the movie. It's nice to see Willis actually trying hard after so long a time of not doing so, though it's kind of a shame that the movie isn't better. Now, don't get me wrong - the movie is not terrible or bad. It isn't boring, and there are some amusing sequences here and there. But it never really rises above being okay. I think the reason for that is that the script is kind of jumbled and underwritten. It takes about half an hour for the movie to set everything up and give Willis' character a goal to accomplish. And even once that happens, the movie really feels more like a collection of vignettes instead of having one solid storyline. The movie passes the time in a painless manner, but all the same I was glad I waited for the movie to appear on Netflix instead of paying to rent the DVD.

I'd love to have written "Willis is back!", but sadly, this is a very mediocre movie. It is fun to watch, but kind of reuses everything it does a long the way.Willis really does well, he seemed to care more about this role than many of the others the past several years, and co-stars also brings a good performance as well. Now the directing is decent, and again it is also better than Bruce's movies the past several years, which might be connected to his performance, but it needed a little more for this. The same exact thing can be said about the writing, except it needed a big improvement, often it seemed like it didn't try to be while the directing implied it was.It might have worked a lot better if tried to make everything more serious instead, but with a light comedic tone, as the unfunny scenes could have been made dramatic instead or have some light action, reminiscent of the Lethal Weapon movies.I hope this Bruce at least gets some part in a good movie soon. Because I saw a glimpse of the actor I love, and I want to see more of him.

Like many, I've been a Bruce Willis fan since "Die Hard." And I agree that some of his recent movies have not been as satisfying as I'd like. So that may have led me to some lower expectations with "Once Upon a Time in Venice." But, it's Bruce Willis (and John Goodman, and Jason Momoa, and Thomas Middleditch, and the list goes on), so what the heck.I found myself actually laughing at the dialog and acting (in a good way). The irreverent Bruce Willis attitude was here in full, and EVERYONE else was that way, too, which is one of the things that made this movie really fun. Yes, the action sequences were kind of light, but they fit it perfectly with the tone of the movie. If you want a fun Bruce Willis movie, this one is it. Loved it!
