Film Watchin Fool Why You Might Like It: This is decent action/drama that revolves around a once corrupt police officer unknowingly investigating his own corrupt police department and trying to find out who saved his life after he was gunned down. There is plenty of action and recognizable faces including Stephen Dorff, Dominic Purcell, and James Woods that do a solid job in their roles. If you enjoy corrupt cop films or movies that involve a cop investigating crimes with twists and turns, then you will likely find that this movie is worth a watch. Why You Might Not Like It: What stood out the most to me was that the movie is all over the place and has a lot going on. There are numerous flashbacks and in some cases they are hard to spot, which makes the movie a little confusing. Overall, the story isn't outstanding and the movie plays out to be very mediocre. To me, the movie is very average in almost all aspects, which means it likely isn't worth your time unless you really like one of the actors or really enjoy this genre of film.Acting/Casting: 5.5* Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 5*Plot/Characters: 5* Entertainment Value: 5* Total - 5.5+5+5+5 = 20.5/4 = 5.125*
bratfink7 I've no idea how the other reviewers rated this 7, 8 and 9 out of 10. They're either riding Stephen doff or related to him. Weak cast, bland story, boring execution and Dorff is just massively cringe. Dominic Purcell and Anna Lynn what's her face.. Come on! They couldn't act their way out of a paper bag and some child from American idol. I wasn't expecting much.. But I got less that I anticipated. It's like cast and crew up on this movie 15 mins in.Avoid like the plague. There are so many other they're so many other things you could be doing Need I say more..
jjcm7799 This movie, I hope it is at the level of "Training Day," "Internal Affairs" and "Brooklyn's Finest" regardless of what the critics say, is based on a true story, and anyway if it were fiction, it is real, that the political will to put in every corner, the statistics are handled for more interest and image, personally I give a 11 points on 10 points, the entire cast, and all those who know it developed from the heart of them that is a premium product, good job.I hope that whatever the critics of today are more speakers of the system and their owners, for someone to come and say that this movie is good, surprising and leads down a path sure no one will move from the couch
shoutatthesky For the first half of the film I was hopeful a point would be revealed to all the confusing scenes that never seemed to add anything to a weak story. For example, in one scene Det. Callahan (Steven Dorff) is told by his daughter that she wants to ask him about something that is troubling her. However, instead of actually listening to what she has to say he cuts her off with insistent question after insistent question until she runs off in frustration! OK, so the scene sort of had a point in that it showed the Callahan saw only what he wanted to see, or that his relationship with his daughter was being interfered with by his work, but in the end we never find out what the daughter was trying to ask. I mean it seemed like it was something important being that this daughter who barely said a thing to her father unless it was dismissive of his concern for her, was all of a sudden wanting to ask him something really important and not go to her mother! But we are just left hanging. That's just one small example of how little sense the film made, but the real nonsensical scene was at the end. The captain offers Callahan a pre-written statement that will absolve him of all blame and allow him to carry on with his life in possession of a new moral code forged in the mistakes of the past. Instead of signing the statement though Callahan owns up to the truth of the situation and goes to prison! That just makes no sense! What was achieved by telling the truth?! It wasn't like signing the statement meant he couldn't change his ways. And who in their right mind would knowingly allow themselves to be sentenced to prison? Especially a cop? He may as well have just shot himself in the head and been done with it? Basically none of it made sense and left me feeling rather unsatisfied - kinda like I had just wasted 100 minutes of my life because that's exactly what I had done!
