With such actors as Johnathan Rhys Meyers, and Madeleine Stowe one initially might think reviews giving this movie the thumbs down might be a bit harsh. Unfortunately, this effort is no gem...and manages to run out of octane before it has even begun. Redundant plot, redundant characters can't even save the best of actors and this piece is full of predictability. Unfortunately, the predictability runs straight into the end of the movie where we are left to wonder HOW? things end up as they do. For the reviewers who gave this piece anymore than 2 stars I offer that just because you like something it doesn't mean it is good. I'm a big Twinkie fan but that doesn't mean they are actually good...it just means I like bad food. Same with this movie there will be a few people who will "buy" into the visual images. Those images (and there aren't many) are the only thing that cause this piece to get my two stars, that and the actors. The gas tank party palace- could have been really cool device in a different movie. But This little ditty is just plain out of gas! Rolling down the road on fumes.

When I saw the amazing "car scene," in which Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is seducing Misha Barton on a vintage car while a gigantic wind blower sets the mood, I knew I had to check it out! The scene was so cinematic, it was something I have never watched before, it was breathtaking and seductive. I thought I had scene every "vampire" film known to man, but somehow I missed this gem.I love these types of films because they keep you guessing the whole time. You are on the edge of your seat, or in my case, hanging on tightly to your pillow. They don't tell you everything, you have to figure a lot of things out. That way of thinking is what you might love, or hate about this movie. The whole time you don't know who these strange people are that keep showing up, or what they want..until the end. A lot of the film is metaphorical. They are not your typical "vampires," they drink blood but they don't grow fangs or have black eyes.Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, who steals the movie (even though he is only in about 15 minutes of it) plays The Father. He is the leader of a cult who takes those that are metaphorically lost, usually girls though not always, to "show them enlightenment." The Father believes that through the use of blood, you reach the stars. One of the best quotes from the film is when he says "no one bound by chains ever reached the sun." Jonathan Rhys Meyers uses his trademark sensuality into a great performance. It is unfortunate, however, that his character "The Father," is given such short on screen time. You are left wanting to know more about The Father, and wish they would have spent more time on what he was doing throughout the whole film. He is a symbol for sexuality and because it looks so good on him one roots for Barton to accept his advances and ditch her mother's increasingly silly attempts to save her.Essentially it is a story about a mother and daughter, and how the daughter is feeling sexual energy for the first time and moving away from her mother. The mother doesn't want what happened to her to happen to her daughter.Really underrated thriller.Breakaway Film http://breakawayradio.ca/film

Do not watch this one its so bad... Octane got me hooked on the first minute and then... just lost it. Worst movie top something for sure! Mischa should not be on this one! She's too good for this sh*t. I don't get whats real and whats not. I don't see the point. Its stupid and with a stupid ending also. Lost time watching it. Movies like this shouldn't be allowed to come out and make people lose time by getting them. "Vampire Clan" is the worst movie ever top 1 but this one is close to suck that much. Maybe the whole movie is in another dimension and they just forget to tell us, the pills that Nat's mother takes are the reason for the whole thing... ahah, nothing makes sense.

this movie left me asking so many questions i wish i never watched it my boyfriend said that it was like a mtv movie for teens there was no information about the "father" is he the devil? is Nat so stupid that she is going to go with this guy even after she sees him slice his own tongue? what cult? it was like 6 people. the movie was not developed enough to be pleasing. it could have been much better with a little effort. of course madeline stowe was great and usual. and I was surprised with ms. bartons acting. if you don't mind drawing your own conclusions about every character in this movie go ahead and give it a try. please don't expect much more that small attempt to be semi erotic with the blood, the wind and the see thru clothing.
