Live from Nashville, TNAttendance 5,200Your commentators are Jim Ross & Bob CaudleThe Great Muta Vs Doug GilbertMuta wins with a moonsault from the top. This was a squash match, but Muta was a lot of fun to watch.* out of 5Ranger Ross Vs Butch ReedReed wins with a flying shoulderblock. This was downright boring at times. Reed slapped on way too many chinlocks for my liking. It was funny, because the All American hero, Ranger Ross got booed at times.*1/4 out of 5Bullrope Match'Captain Redneck' Dick Murdoch Vs 'Cowboy' Bob OrtonMurdoch wins. Orton gets revenge on Murdoch after the match. Good god, this was AWFUL. Both were well past their prime at this juncture. Murdoch was never that great to begin with, but Orton used to be a machine. He was a great technician. ½* out of 5The Samoan Swat Team (W/Paul E. Dangerously) Vs The Dynamic Dudes (Shane Douglas & Johnny Ace)The Dudes win. Maybe It's just the mood I'm in...or maybe it's the fact that I can't stand the Dynamic Dudes. Either way, I wasn't too impressed with this match. The Dudes had no right winning this below average bout.*3/4 out of 5United States TitleLex Luger (C) Vs Michael 'P.S' HayesHayes wins the title after Terry Gordy interferes. This was actually a decent match with some solid drama and nearfalls. Hayes winning the title was kind of cool as well. I wouldn't call it a great match, but it was certainly decent.**1/2 out of 5Television TitleSting (C) Vs The Iron SheikSting wins by submissions with the Scorpion Deathlock. This was a terrible match. At least it was shot. The Iron Sheik had no business being in title contention at this juncture. He could barely move, let alone wrestle with that huge beer gut.3/4* out of 5World Heavyweight TitleRicky Steamboat (C) Vs Ric FlairHow the F** is this not the main event? That is simply, inexcusable. Flair wins the title with a small package after Steamboat's knee buckles. Terry Funk offers his congratulations and issues a challenge to Ric Flair for the title. Flair says Funk has been in Hollywod, rubbing shoulder's with Sylvester Stallone. He's gotta chose from the top 10. Funk cheapshots Flair and viciously assaults him. He delivers a piledriver on top of the table to Flair. Well, this match is the weakest of the trilogy, but it's still a damn near classic match. It's wonderful stuff for the most part. The psychology is great, the action is great, everything is great. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the slow start. The Funk/Flair stuff at the end is legendary as well. They produced some great stuff. It's ridiculous that this wasn't the main event. How do you follow this? ****1/2 out of 5Tag Team TitlesThe Varsity Club (C) (Mike Rotunda & 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams) Vs The Road WarriorsNikita Koloff is the guest referee. The Road Warriors win by DQ. This match wasn't bad at all for the time that it got. It was way too short to be anything special, though I would have given the belts to The Road Warriors, myself.** out of 5United States Tag Team TitlesRick Steiner & Eddie Gilbert (C) Vs Kevin Sullivan & Danny SpiveyThis is the main event? What a joke.Steiner and Gilbert win after Rick clotheslines Sullivan, then Gilbert covers. The finish was absolutely stupid. Steiner had one arm and it felt very unrealistic. I always suspend disbelief in wrestling, but this was too much. This has no business being in the main event.*1/2 out of 5This is a very poor PPV saved by a legendary match between Flair and Steamboat. The Flair and Steambot trilogy is a must see if you're a true wrestling fan. Everything else on this PPV mostly sucks. I'd skip this and just seek out the Flair and Steamboat match..4.5/10
