Since I saw the trailer it was clear that this movie is kind of a B- movie. Not so much when you look at the quality of cinematography, editing, stuff like that, but mostly because of the plot, the writing and the acting, which was weirdly porn-y and just uncomfortable, especially when it comes to Paz de la Huerta, who played the nurse Abby Russell. The plot actually made me think about American Psycho 2, and how I've often said that movie would be way better if you just took away all the American Psycho references. Nurse is incredibly similar to American Psycho 2, but it's hard to say if it's a good thing. On the other hand there's blood and gore, more than in American Psycho 2, but the story doesn't seem as rich. The movie was surprisingly colourful and looked really nice. Only problem is we didn't see it in 3D, which I guess is somewhat the point, so sometimes some effects look really tacky. Are they less or more tacky with 3D?Nurse is an alright horror movie. There are so many things I'd like to change about it to make it even better, though. It has potential, but doesn't reach it. Still, fun to watch at least once.

Nurses in skimpy uniforms, a killer with a childhood trauma - and lots of blood. Should be fun, right? Fun in that old-fashioned exploitation way - gratuitous nudity, predictable scare scenes, dumb dialogue, overplayed reveals etc. There's quite a bit of sex, but there's really nothing sexy here (or otherwise smutty in an enjoyable good way). The blood and gore are just lame (digital, for the most part, and not done particularly well), with a large emphasis on spurting blood. Worst of all, the story and its telling neither conform enough to genre patterns to be really interesting to fans nor do they stand up on their own. There is no overarching plan or style here: The colors are overblown without this leading to an actual distinctive look. No character is developed enough for the viewer to care, yet the entire thing is not gonzo enough to get away on its thrills alone. There is no arch of suspense at any point. In the end, unless you are a genre completist, go google some best-of lists in the horror genre and watch something off these instead. There are certainly much better options. (If you just want cheap blood, gore and female breasts, then there are numerous Troma titles available legally on Youtube which are so much more fun than this.)

When word about this film came out, I was pretty excited. The movie poster was extremely provocative, and created an interest in the movie for me. The fact that Paz De la Huerta (From HBO's Boardwalk Empire), plays the lead character was a plus. And then, you watch it, and it's a hit and miss kind of feeling from start to finish. On the one end, Paz De la Huerta does have talent, but you wouldn't be able to tell from her acting in this movie, which is one note in every scene. She looks about the same in almost every scene, like she has anger issues and she is just waiting for that one person to set her off - and even then, its not impressive. The plot and story line are pretty good, and the other actors show more range of emotion than Paz does throughout the entire film. The narration that Paz's character, Abby Russell provides to us, feels like she went on a bender, and then takes a moment from said bender to talk about her murderous escapades. I kept thinking that she was slightly drunk at times. The Cinematography is good, and the special effects are OK. I could've done without the CGI in the movie (There's a few in certain scenes). Story wise, I really do like this film, but it needed way more polish. It's OK to watch every now and then, and it would've been a more memorable movie overall, if the acting for the main character had more emotion. It's really not that bad. Lackluster at best. I recommending watching it at least once, and then go from there.

Seen this movie in 2013 and it is good I'm writing about it in 2015 because strong female leads are the thing now and there popping up so much it's gonna get to the point that it becomes annoying. But thats the Hollywood formula I guess and sadly for me the reason to skip a lot of blockbusters and hope that originality will be maintained by in depended movie makers still getting funding to do their thing.Almost felt like this movie was made for me and I loved every little cliché it broke. The actress may not be the prettiest out there but by the way she uses seduction becomes very desirable non the less. The way people rated this was extreme on both sides,so either very positive or very negative but it makes me wander if the negative reviews would change because of the situation we find ourselves now in(with strong female leads flooding the box-office)Some guy here stated that it would be different if you switched the story to a male lead but in all honesty (and thats my theory)a girl can seduce a guy easily, while it is way more difficult for a guy to seduce a girl.Even more honest I over rated this because I really feel the rating is way to low and should be at least a six for the production value alone.I think the biggest flaw for this is that they made it 3-D while there really ain't a need for that and it was not a movie for that format. The director was good on this because he let "Paz"shine and in another movie she played in(I forgot which one) she was just awful.Truthfully this was an 8 for me and I hope more people will see it after reading this review.I recommend it to any one who wants to see a different but ultimately great horror movie.Added bonus was to see Judd Nelson in a good role again.Enjoy the "bleep"out of this.
