EnemyOfTheState
This movie is an underrated classic and a must see for anyone who wants to know the true meaning of friendship. Its a simple enough story, 4 adult male friends compete to see who makes the most money, starting from nothing in a strange city (Salt Lake City). Each goes their separate ways: One jumps head first into the money game, doing the hard sell the best he can, another gives all his money away and works as a mountain bike guide, another works as a bar tender and chases women and the forth, and presumably most sensible has all his money stolen by some thugs and is forced to live off the kindness of the others. As the story unfolds this foursome learn a lot about themselves. We see, for example as the wild eyed anti-materialistic mountain bike guide actually has a more serious side and reasons why he is who he is. We see that the over-eager materialist is really more vulnerable than he seems, we see that the bartender is really weak and we finally see that the forth person is a lot stronger than he seems. This is really a "guy" movie, but one that is not offensive to women or anyone. Its about friends finding out what makes them human beings. Its a fun, inoffensive movie and one of the few movies I can watch over and over again.

I've watched this movie several times and feel it was an underrated movie. I don't remember it in theaters or being shown on TV, I got a copy from a friend who had it on vhs. It was interesting to watch four grown men go from self- serving individuals, to ones who truly valued their friends and to be supportive of them. Michael T Weiss gave one of his best performances. His performance in Jeffery was outstanding, he was still growing as an actor. The other three actors also gave excellent performances. I recommend this film to fans of M. T> Weiss.

This is a film with such an intriguing premise that I wish they had put more effort into the characters and story-line beforehand. It has a very capable cast who over and over again pull the film up to a higher level than its really earned. In the end I was moved and touched by the characters -- even while I was aware of being manipulated. But as I said, the premise is worthy and the actors are really making an effort. In the end it left me thinking, which is more than most films do. And it's always nice to see these actors in almost anything so there is definitely an upside to it.

I just loved this story. It had very interesting, well developed characters with real depth that will steal your heart. I really enjoyed their history and friendship with each other. The deal they made leads them on interesting adventures with life changing discoveries. I highly recommend this independant film. I was extremely impressed with Michael T. Weiss and Todd Field's performances as well as the rest. Language and sexual content not extreme.
