Python Hyena
National Security (2003): Dir: Dennis Dugan / Cast: Martin Lawrence, Steve Zahn, Eric Roberts, Colm Feore, Robinne Lee: Idiotic comedy that represents unity of race but plays like the umpteenth buddy action film. It stars Steve Zahn as a cop who witnesses the murder of his partner. Martin Lawrence plays a failed trainee who is accidentally locks his keys in his car. When Zahn asks questions he turns it into a racial argument that concludes with Zahn being caught on camera in what appears to be a beating when he is really retaliating at a bee, which Lawrence is allergic too. Zahn spends time in prison thanks to Lawrence's racial arguments. Predictable climax resulting in another failure by Dennis Dugan who has directed such junk as Problem Child and Happy Gilmore. Zahn does what he can with the lifeless material but Lawrence goes into overkill with his racial argument. Both are capable of being funny but this is not intelligent enough material to demonstrate it. Eric Roberts plays the standard villain as if that is any surprise. Colm Feore is also feature, but again here is a talent that is far above this junk. Robinne Lee plays Zahn's ex-girlfriend who broke up with him after he was arrested and now Lawrence must own up to the truth. This is another lame buddy flick in their ever declining quality. This one should be shot to pieces by the millions of bullets fired in this dumb flick. Score: 2 / 10

L.A. cops Charlie and Hank respond to what they believe is a false alarm. It is not, but they went to check out the situation just in case. Charlie is killed.Earl wants to be an L.A. cop but his outrageous and reckless behavior gets him kicked out of the academy. Never mind that Earl can do no wrong because any criticism from whites is the result of racism against black people.Hank is bitter about losing his partner, so it doesn't help matters that he is the one who catches Earl trying to break into his own car. And Earl is allergic to bees so when a bee complicates the situation and Hank tries to swat the bee, and Earl is mostly behind the car so the person videotaping the scene can't really tell what's going on ...It's Rodney King all over again. And the joke of a trial gets Hank sent up the river.Six months later, Earl and Hank work for the same security company. Hank ends up at the Coca-Cola warehouse where Earl works because, while the guys who got Charlie killed are up to no good, Earl is making out with the secretary. The result: a whole lot of wasted soda.Earl and Hank now have to learn to work together so they can catch the guys responsible for Charlie's death. Never mind that they are not real cops. The results are hilarious and fun. There is even an exciting car chase which results in the pursuing cop cars turning upside down. This is just a fun movie with some explosions, crashes and other excitement and plenty of laughs. Don't look for outstanding acting or writing, but to me Martin Lawrence is quite appealing despite his constant racist attitude. Toward the end, this is actually pretty good as the guys work toward solving the mystery. One actor stands out: Cleo King is a black woman who picks up the guys when they need a ride. And she won't take any attitude, though she is really a nice person. She's not around long.Martin Lawrence's stunt man (or men) does an impressive job. It's scary what they let him do.Don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed.

First of, this movie was alright and even hilarious at times...for the first 10 minutes. After that, this movie sunk faster than the Titanic.I'm not sure what the creators of this movie were smoking that made them think it was an action or crime movie, and the only crime was that this movie cost me $0 but cost me 20 minutes of my life. Yes, I stopped watching it. That is the proof of a good movie. I was not paying a dime to see it, and I stopped watching it. I would rather watch a squirrel scratch its back than have finished this movie. The only funny part of this movie was watching Earl Montgomery (Martin Lawrence) was doing the police training exercise and when Earl called officer Hank Rafferty (Steve Zahn) a Nazi, and I'm white. Besides that, nothing much for me. To each their own I guess, and this gets thrown into the same dumpster as Waynes World.

English is not my main language therefore I lack the vocabulary to 100% accurately describe my feelings about this film... but I will gladly give it a try... because I feel that people need to be warned! I started watching this movie not really knowing what to expect. First time I watched this some years ago, I wasn't that familiar with Martin Lawrence having seen him only in "blue streak" which was moderately funny, so I was pretty open minded towards the whole thing. I watched it again the other day when it aired on cable because I was sure the movie couldn't be as bad as I remembered from the first viewing. Well was I wrong...The movie started out hilariously and had me laughing out loud at the bee attack and the wrong interpretation of the whole thing. Expecting a creative and funny storyline following out of this... but no.The rest of the movie was purely offensive. I am not the hating kind of guy. But throughout the movie I passionately hoped for the 100% unlikable Lawrence character to get his ass kicked by the Zahn character, or any other character, to get shot and killed, run over by a truck, thrown out of an airplane, anything to severely punishing him for being 100% mean racist bastard, anything to make the pain stop... that is the pain watching this guy blaming every single thing on race, being mean to the Zahn character for no reason whatsoever, putting him down every chance he gets... Add to that the Zahn character being a totally nice and likable guy having done absolutely nothing wrong and getting no chance for redemption... why!! How this is considered a comedy movie I do not understand. How anyone can rate this movie at anything more than 2/10 I cannot understand. Highly not recommended!!
