*Contains Spoilers*When one hears of a film with completely unrecognizable actors and an unreasonable plot, we usually tend to ignore the project. But this had something different to offer.Basically it is a story very similar to the scooby-doo cartoons (not the film). There are 3 nerdy looking guys who vow to solve any mystery that comes their way. Their projects are very silly and childish and their tip is usually from an even dumber member of the cast.Their mundane lifestyle is changed with a murder taking place in the neighbourhood. It allows them to go on a "scintillating" adventure which ultimately ends with the perpetrators getting caught in what can only be described as a weird circumstance. This is very much an episode of Scoobe-Doo without the ghosts and Scooby. It manages to capture the aura of the cartoon with the quirky laughters and the paradox involved (something the scooby doo movie failed to do I must add) and perhaps that is what elevated this from an average to a step higher.Verdict: Will make you go back to days of Scooby and the mystery machine and must be watched if one wants to go there.

This movie just hit the right spot. It seamlessly combines irony, wit, awkward situations, and disguises. There were some minor things such as production value that held it back from being all it could be, but even that couldn't hold it back. Derrick Comedy just proves that you don't need big budgets and special effects to make good movies. The people who gave this movie bad reviews all probably enjoyed Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe. As for anyone who asks, "What demographic is this aimed at?" the answer is that it is aimed for people who don't sit in the back of comedy shows where they fold their arms and frown when the comic makes an inappropriate joke. The innocence of the main characters combine with the vileness of reality makes for a fun watch.

A comedy with a good concept, but it just doesn't quite deliver in the laugh department. Donald Glover, D.C. Pierson and Dominic Dierkes play three 18 year-old boys who peaked when they were seven years old. A master of disguise, a boy genius and a tough kid, together they formed the Mystery Team, who would solve petty, childish mysteries around town for a dime a pop. They were beloved at the time, but when they're still at it 11 years later, it's kind of sad. One day a little girl brings them a grown-up mystery: her parents were murdered. It's out of their jurisdiction (they're usually occupied with finding out who stuck their finger in an old lady's boysenberry pie), but, pressured to grow up, they take the case. The film gets some good mileage out of these juveniles getting mixed up in strip clubs and drug deals. And it has its share of fun bits and good lines. But, in the end, it all comes down to the fact that it's never funny enough. It just feels like the film misses too many opportunities. There's a sequence where two of the kids reveal to the third that they do indeed intend to go to college next year that demonstrates that the film could have been much more.

I loved it. Loved it all over. I was on the edge of my seat, but I kept falling over with laughter. It was written in a way that was perfectly suited to the comedic voices of Bobby Moynihan, Matt Walsh, Jon Daly, Aubrey Plaza, etc but still maintained a really strong voice in and of itself.Gun to my head, if I had to criticize it, I would say I could have used more Ben Schwartz. But I feel that way about EVERYTHING........So so so good. I cannot say enough good things about this movie!!!! I feel as though any negative reviewers on here probably wanted to see a simple, straight-forward comedy and that it is not. It is an ethically challenging movie with really artistic choices and deep belly uncontrollable laughs.Enjoy.
