Mirror Mirror presents a magical world where accents appear and disappear, where jokes fall flat and where fairy tales are made bland -- at least the costume design is good. Lily Collins is actually quite adorable in this movie, and it adds a few new elements to the classic story, but everything just seems a bit off. Mirror Mirror doesn't reach it's full potential, which is sad because, since The Fall, I expected great things from Tarsem Singh.

No idea why so many negative reviews and such a low rating overall. May be because it was a year when a few versions of the story were made for the screen? Giving it ten stars to bump the undeservingly low rating (otherwise would say it's an eight).I took my daughter to see it at the theater back when it was released. Magical, beautiful, lighthearted and funny for all ages. Lovely indeed. Julia Roberts was superb, played the role with a great deal of humor... A funny take on the prince charming character, too. Just open your heart and mind - it's a fairy tale after all, let yourself be a kid for couple hours. Anyway, we both loved it. And did i mention that my daughter was 27 at the moment?

It's a good family movie with humour that both kids and adults can appreciate. However, for someone who remembers the Snow White Disney classic movies as a huge part of their childhood, the movie doesn't seem to take the tale all that seriously. Jokes aren't just sprinkled here and there throughout the movie, the film is basically built off of them. Serious moments are usually ended quickly when either the evil queen starts being her very clichéd stuck up self, or her right hand man somehow messes up and gets punished in a weird way (like being turned into a cockroach for some odd reason). Also, the queen's attempt to seduce the prince being foiled by a 'puppy love' potion that makes him act like a literal dog and then this being solved by true loves kiss was frankly just badly written in my opinion. All in all, if you're trying to find a good movie for your kids and yourself to enjoy or to just get a few laughs, this is not a bad movie. If you're looking for a serious spin on a classic tale, maybe just stick to the Disney version.

It was not completely unwatchable, but for the money they spent making this film, you would think that they would have worked their imagination a little harder. The movie tries to be funny, but when you have to make such an effort, it usually falls flat and this one landed with a thud.Lily Collins does look a little like Snow White, and she does seem like a sweet girl, but this movie has the feel of people wanting to do something nice for her famous father, Phil Collins. Also, with such a big budget, you would expect sets and wardrobes that match the money spent. Instead, it actually looks and feels cheap. I suppose all the money went to paying stars like Julia Roberts, who was quite unconvincing in her role.In future retelling of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Mirror Mirror" will be a good reference of how not to ruin a perfectly good fairy tale.
