brockwright89 When you're in the mood for a great horror film with lots of exotic kills, this movie is great for you. Though the movie starts out as a typical teen slasher flick, it stays true to some other class horror flicks of good quality. Midnight Movie pays homage to to Hitchcock in its movie with in the movie shot in black and white. The cast is made of relatively new people on the Hollywood scene, but were good enough to have a great on screen chemistry. Rebekah Brandes, the lead in Midnight Movie Killer cut is a standout amongst the cast. I look to see her career blossom soon as she gets more and more mainstream. the editing of this movie is also superb, the mixing of soundtrack and the film was dine very good for a horror film, they made sure not to give away every scary moment with for-shadowed music. all in all, if your in the mood for a slasher film with a new take on the genera Midnight Movie Killer cut is great for you.
grodemann The word for this movie is Homage, and if you've seen Cop Out its not as overplayed as that. However there is a cool tip of the hat to the old films that didn't show the blood and left all of the killing to the imagination. It's a cool meta level of movie, since the movie is about watching a movie thats surrounded by a the stigma of a massacre in a psyche ward. If your fans of the gore though, there's something there for you, the movie just warms up as it goes on. The killings occur in both the movie they are watching and the movie you are watching. It is neat to see the way the movie gets into that realm of "its OK its just a movie" as the characters aren't worried about their friends brutal murder at first, assuming that it's all just special effects and a joke he is playing on them. And for all the special effects fans the Killer Cut really takes the time to do those right.
Dianne Will Midnight Movie's got everything: a madhouse, blood, guts, gore and a weapon toting crazy to match. The villain of a movie entraps and menaces a group of teens with a corkscrew blade he drills deep into the guts and hearts of his victims. The slasher shots kept making me think of SAW. I wanted so badly to look away but the film kept me wide-eyed and jumping in my seat all through. The plot line's original, the filming creative and the graphics mad crazy. It's got a creepy, convincing villain and a gratifying ending. You may not have seen the original but the killer cut is amazing. Definitely worth watching. =) I can't wait to see it again.
sljw-tlc I caught a screener of Midnight Movie: the Killer Cut. I loved the retro horror style...really took me back to some old favorites. It had enough gore but not so much that it was pointless and it had some really fun characters, which is always a plus. Not to mention, with all these remakes and reboots, it was great to see a horror flick with a new original story line. The whole concept of a horror movie in the theater intertwining with the real world sounded weird to me at first and I wasn't sure how it would play out, but I actually enjoyed the way they handle in the movie and how they mesh the two worlds together. I really enjoyed the ending a lot, and I must say that's very important to me. If the ending falls short, I feel cheated, but I found myself pleasantly surprised in this case. Any old school horror fans out there would probably enjoy this movie, a good old fashioned setup of a group of people getting knocked off in a secluded location, but with some new interesting concepts.
