I never have really thought much of SyFy's resume as an overall whole. Some are tolerable, but most are garbage. Fortunately Mega Snake is one of the tolerable ones. It does have a lot of noticeable and obvious flaws, first and foremost the effects of the snake, which are not the worst from SyFy but still atrocious. The characters, especially the Sheriff, are cardboard clichés on the whole, and some like the shopkeeper are annoying. There is too much overlong exposition with the family as well and hampered further by hackneyed dialogue. However, the story is mostly not too bad. It didn't feel dull, and there are actually some good scenes like the attack on the lake and the forest chase which do have some tension as well as some fun and inventive killings. There are some scenes that do get rather ridiculous though, which was kind of expected. Other than the snake effects, Mega Snake does look good, the scenery is striking and the photography is at least above slipshod level. The acting is above average as well, John T Woods is especially fun. In conclusion, I'd be lying if I said this was a good movie but there have been far worse from SyFy. 5/10 Bethany Cox

Mega Snake (2007) ** (out of 4) Fun, if extremely silly, "Creature Feature" about a couple of brothers who go down different paths when their father is killed by a snake. One grows to love snakes while the other, Les (Michael Shanks), grows to hate them. After a magical Indian snake escapes it quickly starts to grow in size and that also means his appetite is growing. Before long the snake is eighty-feet and it's up to Les and his cop girlfriend (Siri Baruc) to try and kill it. Every once in a great while a movie like CITIZEN KANE comes along that changes the rules of cinema and makes one so impressed because they feel as if they're watching something that is going to be copied, worshiped and admired for decades to come. MEGA SNAKE isn't that type of film. If you expect something magical then you're going to be left disappointed but if you go into this low-budget "B" movie expecting low-budget "B" movie stuff they you should find yourself entertained. There are dozens of killer snake movies to pick from but this one here manages to be quite fun since it doesn't take itself too serious. We're also greeted with a pretty good snake. Yes, it's CGI and yes it's obviously fake but that really doesn't take away from anything as it at least looks better than dozens of other snake movies. The monster certainly isn't going to scare you but it at least isn't going to make you laugh either. Another good thing are the actual attacks as some of them are pretty graphic when it comes to the blood. There are several scenes of the snake swallowing people whole and we also get countless bites and people missing parts. The filmmakers at least threw horror fans some real blood effects so it's not all CGI. The film takes place in Tennessee so you can expect countless bad Southern accents but for the most part I enjoyed the characters and the actors. I thought Shanks and Baruc made for a good team and you could easily believe them as a couple. Todd Jensen is fun of the girl's current boyfriend and John T. Woods is pretty funny as the snake-loving brother. Once again, if you're wanting some big-budget, realistic drama then you're not going to find it here. This is a cheaply made thriller that will please those wanting cheap fun and nothing more.

Some one needs to stop Sci-Fi network from churning out this 50's style b movie sci fi flicks. The Special effects were downright horrible. Everything seems so fake (including the hunters fear, before they are consumed) You can make out the blue screen used to make the Snake appear real. The onslaught of the fair were, rather sad. The snake manages to consume most of the fair goers (including one scene on a tilt a-whirl, in which even the people not eaten by the snake manage to just up and die) And also, this will be the first time that 20 people can be killed in one scene, and all they manage to muster is one blood splatter.DInocroc was entertaining. Megasnake was almost was bad as sitting through Krush Groove. However, I will give Megasnake credit for one thing. It set an example for the most anti-climatic ending in film history. Many made for TV movies are bad. Megasnake is just below bad. Maybe mega-turkey would be a better title. Because this was a bigger turkey then I've ever had on my dinner table at Thanksgiving.

I was really looking forward to seeing the Feedback movie and I can only say I pray this was not it, that this was just a teaser. I give kudos to Matthew Atherton for doing this, at least it shows he has principles as a person. The Character Les is so pathetic who would blame Erin for running to anyone else, but really, to the jerk who is the sheriff? Was it just me or did he seem to base that character on some of the characters played by Bruce Campbell? Maybe it was just the resemblance of the two actors. Most of the male actors are just plain bad, unrealistic, like they are uninterested to be making a movie (of any caliber.) Most of the male characters seem to have vision which does not extend more then about 6 inches in front them.If it hadn't of been for the fact that I really liked the Feedback character and the ability of Matthew to portray him I wouldn't have watched past the 1st break, but I really wanted to see what they would do with Feedback.*spoiler kinda* (Better safe then sorry, though you might be more sorry if you watch the show.) 1.2.3.4. The dialog was flip floppy, first Erin comes up with the theory she thinks its a snake, then her pseudo boyfriend the sheriff shows up and suddenly its the ex-boyfriend (Les's) idea. And unless the sheriff lets him out of jail more people are going to die. (Can I have some butter for the corn? Please?) I think they could have saved money on the special effects of making brains exploding out of someone's head and biting the 40 some odd heads off of the people riding the thrill rides and put it towards Feedback's special effects, I mean come on. Why couldn't they have had the 'main' characters meet up with Feedback as he was helping people escape and told him how it was suppose to be killed and let him save the day? Isn't that how things happen with superheroes? If they don't know how to defeat an enemy the first thing they do is evacuate the innocent by-standers and then meet up with the 'scientist' that tells them how they might be able to defeat the enemy.I think the writer(s) mom(s) should beat them for writing characters who have less regard for their elderly mother then a kid with a magnifying glass has for the ant on a sunny day.Really, just a plain bad movie even for Sci-fi...It gets my vote for the worst movie Sci-fi has made.
