Unlike a lot of reviewers, I have no idea who the actors in this movie were as I'd never seen The Walking Dead, The Babysitter, et. al. That said, I can't compare their past work to this film so I'll just briefly review it based on its own merit.Mayhem reminded me of a few films - The Belko Experiment, Rec, etc. There isn't much on display that hasn't been seen before. I'd say the one scene I'd never witnessed before is the regurgitated use of pepper spray. Now, that was interesting. One thing that intrigued me about this American horror film was that the lead was Asian. That's a relative rarity as far as I know. It's good to see Hollywood flexing their diversity muscles. If over the top violence is not your cup of tea, then by all means, avoid this film like the plague. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy yourself. It won't disappoint.

The story's premise of an infectious strain that instantly causes loss of the conscious controls centers of the brain while also enhancing the primitive emotional centers while also giving you one red eye was too over-the-top ridiculous. The story's writers need a bit of math help as supposedly it spreads worldwide, but only 1000 cases confirmed (half in the US). Not much of a contagion. Anyway, the entire story takes place in one office building (infectious agent was in water cooler of course) where petty animosities suddenly become deadly as staff begin to pound on each other. Boring, so ff was my cure for this disease.

For a movie about Mayhem in an office building due to a rage virus, there sure is a lot of talking and it sure takes a long time to get to the action. Aussie Goddess Samara Weaving is great as always but the rest of the movie is a bit of a chore. Maybe if I worked in an office building it would be more exciting but I wouldn't waste 90 minutes on watching it again. Such a shame after Knights of Badassdom from the same director was so much fun

Well not house in the traditional sense, more like building. Especially because it is a firm and all. But let's not deviate from the movie. This is a lot of fun and it actually nailed what it set out to do. There was a similar concept in 2017 where the script was written by James Gunn (famous now for his Guardians of the Galaxy movies), but if I had to pick a winner, I'd say it is this one.It is more rock and roll, it does not seem to take prisoners and moves more swiftly and with higher accuracy to the point. Some of the actors may be recognizable from their work on TV but I think you won't have a problem seeing them in something different here. Mayhem is also a very fitting title since that is what is going to happen during the course of the movie ... sit back, relax and enjoy
