I was busy getting ready for the Holiday meal preparing when Madea came on television, it takes a lot to grab my attention but this did. I found this movie to be funny, serious, silly, and a pure joy. I really enjoyed the back to common sense writing mixed in with the crazy antics of a silly senior citizen. Since I've seen this movie I've begun watching all of the crazy antics of Madea, a true pleasure! I look forward to more of Tyler Perry's writings, and please keep it fun and clean like it is now.A fun watch for sure!

I went to the theatre to see this film and was disappointed. The movie seemed to just go through the motions and not really develop and the plot seemed random. There was a serious main plot that had multiple funny bits in between, but the funny took away from the good stuff. that was throughout.that was what i kept seeing the first couple times i watched the movie after about the fourth or fifth time the plot seemed to mellow out and flow like it should. Before you make quick assumptions about the movie just because it is a Tyler Perry film, watch it like you would any other movie, with no assumptions.

I hadn't seen any of Tyler Perry's films before this one because I don't find drag comedy appealing. I didn't expect this to be a great film, but it was much worse than I could have imagined. The main reason is Madea herself. Madea is a rude, hostile, Ghetto cliché of a woman who as the opening credits demonstrated, has spent most of her adult life in and out of jail for various offenses caused by her inability to control her anger and need for revenge. After one particular incident the elderly behemoth must finally endure the consequences and serve time. Although this did not happen until about one hour into the film, I applauded because Madea is clueless to how bad her behavior is that even a trained professional like Dr. Phil couldn't get through to her. She needed to learn that she is not above the law as a sort of comeuppance.Another reason this film was so bad was that it would frequently shift to a secondary storyline which had nothing to do with Madea. It was something of a "Pretty Woman" premise involving a legal clerk trying to rescue a childhood friend from drugs and prostitution. Every time this happened, it was like somebody getting a remote control and changing the channel. The ending does show a common thread for these story lines but it's not enough to save this train wreck of a film. After watching Madea, I can't understand why people enjoy Tyler Perry films so much. The Ghetto factor may be the main reason people line up and pay good money to see this garbage. If that's the case, it's very sad that this is what 21st century America considers entertainment. I would have given this a minus rating if IMDb allowed it.

Worst piece of garbage on the screen for the decade. A pathetically idiotic plot, miserable production values.....makes one wonder who underwrote this piece of trash. Bad bad bad bad bad bad. Why anyone would bother putting this on film or tape is beyond me. Not funny, not interesting. Let's put it this way - this Tyler dude ain't Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor or Red Fox. For that matter, he could not even shine their shoes. Then comes the idiotic plot - sorry script, poor direction, lousy acting, even worst "singing"....so...excuse me while I puke. In my many years of movie watching, this rates right on the very bottom. Glad I did not pay money to see this piece of trash - one other good thing about Netflix. Just yank the DVD out of the player, put it back in the envelope and ship it back. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Very baaaaaaaad.
