The movie was so boring, I couldn't even laugh at how bad it was. Long Weekend constantly made me try to care about the relationship of the two main characters but failed at it terribly. Acting was fine scenery was fine that's about it. Not much happened in the movie expect for the couple fighting and the main character Peter keep being a dick to the nature and the movie doesn't explain itself and just gives the "that's what happens when you mess with Mother Nature!"
Felt pretty dissapointed sorry.

An unhappy couple in Australia--Peter (Jim Caviezl) and Carla (Claudia Karvan)--decide to go camping one long weekend in a remote wooded area near the ocean. Along the way Peter (accidentally) hits a kangaroo and casually shoots at birds within range. They argue and he wanders around a lot with his shirt off. That's about it until an abrupt change of events during the last 30 minutes. This film has goos acting by the leads, Caviezl looks good with his shirt off, has some gorgeous cinematography, nice music...but that's it. This is pushed as being a horror film but it's really just a domestic drama with horror kicking in during the last 30 minutes. The horror itself isn't particularly scary and doesn't make much sense. All this has going for it is acting, scenery and music--nothing else. I give it a 4 just for that.

Very well done...With nature just simply being nature, the fears of each individual were elevated to such a destructive level that each characters' own demise was both self-inflicted and imminent! Interesting how people are quick to judge nature as the aggressor, much like sharks being monsters. The characters' ignorance towards nature contributed to their fears which were central to each deadly circumstance. The dysfunctional relationship gave this couple no chance of working together. The situation played on their vulnerable emotional states and heightened defensive attitudes towards each other. The ingenuity of this work was that there was actually nothing in nature that would have threatened these characters lives.Fear was portrayed as the greater destructive force!

The film tells the story of a troubled couple in spending a weekend in a far-off beach, having to deal with the consequences of their reckless actions toward nature. The plot may seem a bit poor, but it does have its tense and intense moments. It's not scary at all, just somewhat eerie. While acting is pretty straight, characters are really poor. Carla, the wife, is just unbelievably annoying. Impetuous, whinger and harassing. Unbearable. Peter, the husband, is not much better, reckless and arrogant. They obviously don't get along very well, and, as soon as the problems start to show up, rising the mystery behind the plot, their reactions just overbore it. I would say more than a half of the film nothing happens other than their constant argument. Thus, the plot develops very slowly. Maybe if there were more characters it could have been much better. Their dog is far the most likable character on the entire film.Filming is o.k., it manages to rise the tension of the plot. Scenery is great, but it does get monotone after a while.
