Blessed to see our Thalaivar back in action. Story begins with a massive introduction song...with our Superstar fully loaded with style and a power packed song from SPB (with foreign dancers around, it very much missed the local flavor which could have given the movie a much intended take off). Following which our evergreen 'Lingaa' mesmerizes the plot with his usual style 'n' wits.Santhaanam did justice with his timing n humor. But still a senior comedian would have been a much fitting bet.As the 3rd generation Rajini is driven to his native soil, which is where he comes to know the magnanimous and godly image of his grandfather 'Lingeshwaran' and it is here the actual story begins. Lingeshwaran's character is inspired from the real life story of 'Colonel Pennycuick'. His selflessness in selling off his family property to mobilise money to fund the DAM project forms the plot. He is introduced to us through a powerful fight sequence in train which is rich in Technique. Throughout the pre-Independence shots, director has ensured perfection with the Picture COLOR, dress fashioning, amazing locales, Vehicles used, furniture etc. and have given us a good look back of the era.Rajini's Charisma and dialogue delivery is made to suite the role of a King (This would have disappointed the many who die for his punch lines). And as usual he lived the role to perfection. Anushka paired against Lingaa was a treat to watch and Sonakshi paired with Lingeshwaran is beautiful and she has pulled over the role with ease (including her lip movement for Tamil). AR Rahman has been below average with his BGM and songs. At many occasions it was the BGM that failed to create the magic. As usual we had the SPB opening song, the Snake comedy (in a different style), Rudhraaksha, Radha Ravi, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar etc. KSR have done a commendable job except for the climax fight. Wrapping up a Rajini movie in 4 months is no lesser than wrapping an AVATAR in less than a year. Strong script but a little lengthy in delivery. And above all it is a RAJINI movie, who is worried about the rest. Thanks Thalaiva for treating us with Lingaa on your birthday. 'A KING IS ALWAYS A KING'. When he set his return on Dec 12, the rest paved way for the Kings arrival. The undisputed SUPERSTAR of World Cinema.

This is the worst movie ever, nonsense. I wasted time 30 min watching and could not continue. I think Lingaa should stop acting in the movie ever. This is the worst movie ever, nonsense. This is an excellent movie. All the scenes are very beautiful and well presented. It runs 175 minutes, but you will not feel headache at the end!It has two heroines in their 20s, but all conservatives can also watch this movie with friends and family without any discomfort!I suggest you to go and watch this movie in the theater atmosphere and am sure that you will not regret it!Views may differ, so go and have your own!To me and my family, this film is excellent and I would rate it 8/10.Hats off to the entire team and Thanks to Rajinikanth sir for his sincere efforts. Everyone, including Anuska, Sonakshi, Santhanam did their part extremely well. Very happy to watch the movie on the opening day!!

A real entertainer. I really felt that this movie did justice to Rajnikanth as an actor. To be honest I liked this movie more than Shivaji and Enthiran. The story was really good. The last 10-15 mins were a little cheesy and dragging, but I was thoroughly entertained right from the beginning. Anushka and Sonakshi acted really well. Santanam is an amazing comedian throughout the movie. Some of the jokes were hilarious and outstanding. One joke I really enjoyed was when Santanam talks to Anushka about Rajnikanth and says "Avar sollardhu konjam purinjiko! Avar oru dhadava dhan solluvaru!" (reminding you of the famous dialogue from the movie Baasha).A really fun and must watch film for all. I expect Rajni fans to really enjoy this one!
