Letters to Juliet (2010) is one of my favorite romance films. Yes, I realize it's cliché and it can be syrupy sweet at times. but ya know sometimes you need a film like that, feel good entertainment. I knew what i wanted to see going into this film, and I got just what I wanted out of it. A great love story, actually two great love stories, generations apart. The story is brought to life by the great cast. Vanessa Redgrave, who is ofcourse a legend, does really well in her role. I can't imagine anyone else playing the role of Claire, she really gives a very compelling performance. Seyfried is god as the lead, she also gives this role her all, I've seen her in films i really enjoyed (Mamma Mia, Chloe) and in films that i hated (Dear John), and this is for sure going in the enjoyable bin. The scenery is breathtaking, the acting is great, the story is sweet and one that i think everyone can enjoy. Sure, there aren't really any surprises at all, but I still loved it anyways. 9/10 for letters to Juliet.

The movie is not interest enough (bore and predictable plot), but I watch because it was nothing on TV the other night. Amanda Seyfried still can't act and there is no chemistry between her and the guy who played Vanessa Redgrave moody grandson. There's no character development at every characters. I don't understand why Vanessa Redgrave agreed to appear in this movie. The movie has nice scenery of Italy it makes you desire to visit one day. This movie is sleepover movie for tween & teenage girls.

I watched this with loads of expectations as it was based on love and the idea of sending letters as Juliet intrigued me. But honestly speaking it was a HUGE Disappointment. It was okay to start with all its beautiful surroundings and love all around but it was firstly a bit too predictable, in that it could be easily understood that Lorenzo and Sophie will breakup sooner or later due to their differences and secondly I really don't understand how can Sophie's letter reach its destination in the first place.. I mean in Claire's letter it was clearly mentioned that she is going away and now that she was soo old, and had a grandchild for Heaven's sake can she get an answer for the letter she had written as a young girl waiting for an answer?I just don't get it. To me this movie seriously lacked substance and logic.

Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is a fact checker for the New Yorker. She goes to Verona for a pre-honeymoon with her future husband Victor (Gael García Bernal). He's an obsessive chef, and she wants to be a writer. As he falls in love with the local food scene, she gets tired of it and finds the "Secretaries of Juliet" who answer the love notes left at the fictional Juliet's courtyard. Then one day, she finds an old note left unnoticed for 50 years inside the wall of the courtyard.I love both Amanda and Gael as actors. The movie is a little too cute with their relationship for its own good. Their problems shouldn't be so passive. Then Vanessa Redgrave comes in for the second half to sweep everybody off their feet. Christopher Egan is the English cold fish son. Maybe he's too good at playing the cold fish. They look like a magazine photo shoot couple without the chemistry. Gael and Christopher may be better off switching roles. Christopher just doesn't have the heat that Gael has.
