The title is surrealist:"the cry of the cormoran by night above the junks" ;in fact, both Bernard Blier and Paul Meurisse try to "imitate " it in the last five minutes. Before, the connection between the title and the plot escapes me,I fear...All that remains is a dreadful hodgepodge ,a story of gangsters which defies the imagination,so to speak..Michel Audiard told it so: as many stupidities in an incoherent screenplay as you can put in an eighty-minute film.Michel Audiard can be a good screenwriter ,with plenty of hilarious lines (for instance,in Gilles Grangier's "Un Cave" (1961);but as a director,he is thoroughly incompetent :his actors are left to their own devices and are, most of the time ,unbearable (particularly Marion Game as a nymphomaniac in miniskirt);the cast is enticing but the movie is not.
