i love the film it is very funny i have it on tape and watch it all the time. i just about know it word for word and it is funny so i don't know why it only got 41/2 stars. especially Jonathan Brandis he is so cute you people are crazy to only give him a few stars. sure the other actors and actresses are funny too but Jonathan is the best. Rodney Dangerfield is very funny to he makes you laugh.especially when he throws the football in a scene at Jonathan and breaks the vase.Jonathan is just watching some girls dancing in their underwear and he tells him not to strain his eyes and other places that was funny. thats why it deserves 10 stars

This is going to sound crazy to most of you, but here it goes. Ladybugs is one of a handful of films that made me want to be a film maker. Seriously! I was 14 when I saw Ladybugs for the first time on video. Once I watched it, I watched it again. Something about the movie interested me to be a storyteller myself. The direction, the story, even the location of the film inspired me to start writing, acting, and begin taking film classes. Something about this feel good movie made me want to make movies myself. At the time, Jonathan Brandis just started acting himself. HE had done the Never Ending Story a few years before and was an up and coming actor. A month ago, Jonathan Brandis was found dead in his LA apartment. Though I never met the man, nor worked on any of his films, his "legacy" if you can call it that, had left a mark. His talents end on such a short note, it is unfair that his best work will never be seen. Even though he has left some good and bad movies behind, I recall most of his work as work of talent and joy.

***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** You wouldn't guess what the movie was about when you heard the name "ladybugs." You'd think it would be a story about ladybugs, but it isn't. It is called ladybugs because that is the name of the soccer team. It is a girls soccer team. The coach played as Rodney Dangerfield, has a son named Matthew who has to watch one of the girls soccer games. He watches the game and also has a big crush on one of the girls named Kimberly. The ladybugs play a really bad game, and Matthew who watches the whole thing tells his dad what he would do if he played. Then that causes his dad to let Matthew play disguised as a girl because he wants a winning team and wants to keep it a secret from everyone. The next game he starts playing and changes his name from Matthew to Martha. Everyone thinks he's a girl, and he helps everyone out. The ladybugs become a winning soccer team because of him. Then one day Kimberly comes to his house, and he has to change from a guy to girl. She watches T.V. with him, but then Matthew's mom comes home so he keeps having to change from Matthew to Martha to his mom and Kimberly. Then his mom finds out that he was pretending to be a girl, and makes him quit soccer. Then the coach reveals to them that Martha is Matthew, and the girls can no longer have him on their team. You'll laugh really hard when you see it. I'd recommend it to everyone except I think more girls would like it then guys. It's a really funny movie, they have to keep anyone from knowing Matthew is on the team, if you haven't seen it see it. If it's ever on T.V. watch it with friends, they should enjoy it.

If you have seen and disliked either Caddyshack or Back to School you'll truely hate this movie. But if your a fan of either of them this is a cult classic. Jonathan Brandis and Jackee are both great in this, and Rodney is at his best. Its charming, cute yet mixes enough dirty jokes in their to keep both preteens and teens interested. I highly recommend it to anyone.
