Sometimes more is less. - oh, and spoilers. This movie borrows from a number of movies before it. Bloodsport - the Kumate is the most obvious one, but the training sequences are reminiscent of kickboxer. In the end, the movie doesn't make much sense. Two women fight a match all day long (not very likely) and it ends in a tie. Because one of them refuses to share the prize money, they have to find students and train them and the student who wins will determine which lady wins - are you still following me? Yeah, it's already thin. One lady is set up as the "good" martial artist. She talks to spirits and she believes that a woman will show up, sweep her garden and be her champion, but it seems she gets impatient, so she gets someone to send people up to her place to sweep. The other lady, the "bad" martial artist has people training in a dojo trying to find her champion and she finds one in a thief who defeats the best lady in her dojo. She then trains the thief, telling her pearls of wisdom like "no mercy".Meanwhile, the blond lady in the picture and star of the show comes to Hong Kong to fight in the tournament - where her father fought and disapeard many hears ago. Her purse gets stolen and the fights, but loses to 4 street thugs. The good martial artist comes to her rescue, takes her in and is surprised to see that she's the one who sweeps her garden to return the favor of the martial artists kindness. Some disagreements ensue and some very well choreographed training, including a tai-chi like dance in the shallow water. Parts of this movie are very nice. I liked the training sequences with the good martial artist and the lead of the movie, and some of the fight sequences were quite good. The first fight in the kumate was the best It thought with the tai-kwon-do fighter.Bits of the fight scenes were unnecessary, like the fights with weapons and making the black boxer look overmatched seemed particularly unnecessary. There were also two villians - the lady who was trained by the "bad" martial artist and a Russian lady who took pleasure in breaking her opponants in the ring, killing at least one of them, badly injuring another. It was necessary to have two villians because that way, one was defeated and the other was turned back to good - like star wars. Got all that?Oh, and her dead father shows up as a ghost and the movie was all tied together with million dollar bets and the bad guy confessing that he killed the leads father and the good martial artist's husband, who was the bad martial artists brother?Got all that? Yes, the ending of this movie was a hot mess of how many plots can we borrow and put into one film, but despite all that, the beginning of the film felt like a throwback to 80s martial arts films and it was pleasantly watchable and some of the fight choreography was really quite good. Not a complete waste of time and enjoyable enough in places, but try to ignore the plot as it only makes the movie worse. If you rent it just to see lady's fighting, it's worth a look. Not the best, but not bad.

Like the title says,Nice actionscenes & beautiful scenery. It's a fightingmovie about the Kumité, so what did you expect? A psychological drama that wins 2 Oscars? No, just a feel-good-movie with a lot of clichés, but is that bad?I liked the feel of the images, good guys & bad duys but the filming-style looks good, this could have been a better film.We need more female fighting heroes.

I Love Female in Acton Movies Like This Who Has Taste of Fighting and Martial Arts I Love that i really do i am guy who really likes that specially male lead roles like Jean Claude van damme bloodsport of crouse. this is a lot different but similar but too different i thought characters were really good specially villain in this Svietta (Mayling Ng) she was like Bolo Yenug from Bloodsport and Double Impact with blind eye with scar looks like female version of Bolo Yenug witch it looked SO CRAZY i thought the story was really good i never seen movie like this underground with women expect for fight valley piece of crap but this a lot better. this is a lot of fun fighting, badass women you will always like god it turned me on not just because i am male liking this movie over of hot women it's looking at females who want's to train and fight like man type of thing like Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Blood and Bone, Undisputed Version looking of movie. lead role was really good i mean the actors in this movie were stunt women and knows how to perform fight scenes know how action works not getting random woman doesn't know about action, doesn't know about anything fighting that would be taking hours to train someone like that but with female actress they know stunts and martial arts witch is good makes looks characters more REAL rather then getting female who doesn't know anything. like Mayling Ng is a flexes her martial arts and acting skills to a world stage. And there's no stopping her. Since winning the Singapore Bikini Competition in 2011, to her first feature role as Jasmin in Mister John a Singapore co-production, to representing Singapore in the Arnold Classic in 2013, Mayling's martial arts and fitness career. someone like her oh yeah because sometimes in action movies if you need a female it's not about acting, great performance ! in movies this is more of action gore style with real woman knows martial arts does he own stunts (Amy Johnston) she does a lot stunts as well in movies but as actress she is still good knows stunt performing in this movie very well not like getting stunts from different to do it for her, it's really good. now i wanna see Female Fight Squad with Dolph lundgren witch is another fighting movie with her in it like this but a lot different. to this plot of movie it's about blonde young American girl (Amy Johnston) Lost her father longtime ago 18 years he went to tourment never come back Jane mother is saying it's suicide but she went on her own still to risk her life goes to Asia to go fight in tournament fight club underground. she gets robbed buy thugs and another female saves her life, Shu (Muriel Hofmann) is like master to her teaches her to fight like if you want to call her Mr. Kesuke Miyagi female version of her. her character trains her takes her to fight tourment she another characters of females cassidy (Jet Tranter) and Ling is alongside with Wai (Jenny Wu) and Russian Psycho looks like Villain Female Version of Yuri Boyka
Svietta (Mayling Ng) she is most psycho character she is crazy villain in this movie but only problem she play's Russian character but she is Asian in real life but i am like OK ? can't hire female Russian Natalia Kuznetsova she is Russian but to Mayling Ng made her with make up all that i didn't even release she was Asian until i search her up but they could hired Natalia Kunznetsova she is real Russian giant bodybuilder looking she is but anyway it's not a problem i liked Mayling Ng. and fight scenes WOW comeptlyey fun i well shot it's all in one shot well done made of movie, i thought Amy Johnston kicked big ass in movie she knows stunts and martial arts that's how movie worked if she wasn't any of that then, movie would have less very less interset to it sadly. but i thought start to end was very fast pacing. it's a lot of action female fighting style and director Chris Nahon who did Kiss of dragon (2001) still knows how to make a action movie very well i haven't been to Asia but he did a good job highlighting the beauty of Hong kong he toke location well shot for place. it's really good give this movie running time 1h 40min but end credits it's 1h 39min

Early on the film cast Asian stars like Maggie Q and called itself Lady Bloodsport. That would have been a great movie but it didn't come as planned. However, Lady Bloodfight, where Bloodfight like Bloodsport pretty much used the same villain, isn't a bad movie. It's different in many ways from either Bloodsport or Bloodfight as it contains some form of magic and is setup differently. The Minute fights are pretty formulaic in comparison to Bloodsport but twists come that makes it different. The fighting is more modernized yet the fight choreography could use work. Amy Johnston's stunts are superb as always and many of the girls, including her, fight scantily clad. The fights are brutal and despite being much more low budget than Bloodsport the production values are good.At the time of this writing, Lady Bloodfight, released only to Sweden is sold out but an American release is forthcoming.Except for fans of the GIRLFIGHT genre, I don't see this appealing to the American martial arts audience, which is sadly misogynist against female fighting. 9/10.For a more brutal yet clothed Amy Johnston's see Female Fight Club.
