I saw this movie when I was about 6 years old and I was deeply impressed by its beauty. Although the story is admittedly sentimental, it is very adequate for children. The highlight of the movie is the magic of the images showing some string puppets, especially at the beginning, which I still remember after more than forty years! Because of this movie I became a fan of puppets and piano music, especially Chopin whose Polonaise Heroic is "played" by a funny old pianist. I have been trying to get a copy of this jewel for many years hoping to see it again. I strongly recommend it if you want to develop sensitivity in your children.

I recently saw this little gem on late night TV Spanish channel. It is a wonderful family movie full of harsh realities, child fantasy that thrilled me. I have a soft spot for Mexican cinema in the 60's be it family films, suspense, or drama. I really enjoyed this movie and recommend it to all families. I did a search for more information about it and could not find much. It was shown in a 90min time slot so I wonder how complete it is since I clocked it at about 64min but since it doesn't seem to be readily available in any format. Update: Yesterday it was shown again in a two hour time slot and am happy to report that I clocked it at 80 min so it added a whopping 17 minutes to my previous recording. I shall treasure it. The cast performs very well. It includes very good name actors of that period, Roberto Canedo and Marga Lopez. I hope those who love Mexican cinema have a chance to see this film.
