Gaurav Mishra The film is a political thriller with engaging plot with Dhanush playing dual roles as Kodi(the titular character) and his twin brother Anbu. The performance of both leading pair Dhanush and Trisha Krishnan are a worth watch and there screen presence is awesome. While it gives a good watch for Dhanush's role, Trisha Krishnan's role as the antagonist is a super. The problem is that a script of this worth needed a better director. R.S.Senthilkumar(the director) made the movie more commercial and massy. Director like Anurag Kashyap("Gangs of Wasseypur" fame) , Prakash Jha("Raajneeti" fame) , Gautham Menon("kakha kakha" ,"yennai arindhal" fame), Pa.Ranjith("Madras" , "Kabali" fame) or Karthik Subbaraj("Jigarthanda" fame) would have made a better product out of this script. If you ignore the massy substances from the movie.. It is a good movie to enlight upon the mercury(the chemical substance) problem with good twists and turns in a political game. Watch out for Trisha krishnan especially 😉

Niranjan Arjun Just watch this. I wish I could explain in Tamil. Great explanation of political Tangles. Great Acting by all. Great Acting by Dhanush.(Needs separate mention) Great emotions. Good love. Great depiction of human nature and how it gets badly influenced by material needs and pursuit of false fame. Excellent BGM and songs. Arguably best Tamil movie of 2016. Nowadays quality of these movies is too good. People are actually starting to think more. You could see in a scene, where the use of wits to mesmerize people is badly ridiculed and focuses on what really matters when they go up on stage to say anything. Its not about how people give influential speeches, its about what they do.

Both belong to different political parties and are arch rivals but don't allow their political differences to interfere with their love life.Things begin to get messy when both are chosen as the MLA candidates for their constituency.Rudra makes public a privately shared moment with Kodi to gain political mileage. Kodi is furious and strikes back.Their secret relationship is now exposed and both are in trouble with their party leaders.Due to unexpected circumstances ,Anbu gets involved in this who is in love with Malathi (Anupama). Why is Anbu involved in this political conspiracy and who won the elections??Is it Kodi or Rudra??Plus Points: 1)Performances: If Dhanush stars in a movie,we need not to specially mention about his performance.As usually Dhanush is the major highlight of the movie with his energetic performance.The way he showcases superb variations in both his characters is just amazing.Trisha as a heartless power-hungry politician is decent.Anupama is cute and gave good performance.2)Screenplay and Direction: Kodi has engaging screenplay through out the movie.Director has succeeded in making an interest political thriller without missing commercial elements.Durai Senthil must be appreciated for bringing a good political thriller in these days.3)Music: Santhosh Narayan songs are brilliant but lyrics are very bad.Listen to them in Tamil,you will love it.Kodi theme,El Suzhali are chart busters.Background Score is brilliant..Minus Points: 1)Climax: Climax is big letdown for this movie.It should have ended thrilling but director ended it abruptly in regular format.2)Lyrics: A I have said earlier,Lyrics are terrible which may affect the songs.So,Kodi is an interesting political thriller which are very rare these days.Dhanush's performance,engaging screenplay and brilliant music makes this movie worth watchingMy rating 7.25/10
