ruckingham It is a funny animation movie. It is a story of toys, and main character is a snowman locked up in snow dome. He tries to exit from snow dome, but his trying never succeeds. The methods which he tries are interesting for audiences. It is also funny that his trying seems impossible at all for a toy. However, no matter how he does it, he cannot go out. Other toys are watching the trying snowman while laughing.I focus on following point. That is, it is animation movie. Advantage point is that animation can do that which human cannot or never happen. This can be said in this movie. Snowman lives in water because he is in snow dome. Human cannot do that. Moreover, there is a scene that snowman falls from high place. If he is a man, he would die. However, the snowman survives. One more advantage point is that animation character can express their feelings more clearly than reality world. Especially, their face expression is nice. For example, snowman express his sorrow by dropping his eyes, nose and mouth made of coal. It can indicate his deep sorrow. Human can never do that. I think this movie is good because we can recognize nice points which animation movies only have.

kasumiwater This short movie starts with an annotation: "In 1989, six years before TOY STORY, Pixar Animation Studios made this short film." Indeed, setting is a kid's room and characters are toys supposedly owned by a child. The protagonist, a snowman living in a snow globe dreams of the world outside of the dome. Right next to the dome is a tropic from which a pretty girl doll waves to him, enjoying vacation with other toys. He tries hard to get out of the glass in order to reach her, but he fails every time. Finally, after several attempts, he succeeds in "prison breaking." He looks happy to be free and to meet another pretty girl, but the snow globe lets him down once again. As you can see, the main character is a cute snowman who is always full-tilt, nonetheless whose efforts are never rewarded. Which sounds a little negative. However, because of his unyielding spirit, I could not help but cheer for him in my mind while I was watching the film. Anyone who sees this film would feel the same way.

yla27i First of all, this short film is so cute. The way of drawing characters and the concept are very intimate that almost all of the people will love it. The story is how the snowman can escape from snow dorm.the tries are so funny. he tries to dig a hole in the floor. He also tries to bomb the snow dorm. he does it just for a woman he loves. He never give up even though his part of face mangles and his nose bends. His ideas are so fantastic and unpredictable so I did not feel bored.I was surprised at the ending of the film. Most people including me though he gets out from snow dorm but to be truth he coops up in another new place, fish bowl.I thought it was a bad ending. However, when I saw that a snow man finds his new loving girl, I was confident that it was a nice happy ending. It was interesting because the ending was unexpected and happy ending from another perspective.

yuka I have two questions about this story. First, where did snow man get goods used in snow dome? Yes, it is nonfiction but stories need consistency or something like that, even fantasy. He used dynamite, gas and construction goods to break a pane of glass and go to the beautiful woman. Otherwise, he must have lived in the dome or he brought those things from anywhere. Why was he able to do it? Second, there are mermaid and Atlantis in the story. According to OALD dictionary, "Atlantis is an island full of beauty and wealth, that was said to have been covered by the sea and lost and there are many people's attempt to find the island." Moreover, there is the island in the bottom of the sea. Also, in the knick-knack story, it was found when the snowman fell in the cistern so there is the bottom. Furthermore, mermaid is a mythical sea creature with the head and trunk of a fish, conventionally depicted as beautiful and with long flowing golden hair." The girl of the story has long flowing golden hair so each contents are related. Then, a legend creature, mermaid, was on the legendary island! I think it is so interesting! That's why those two things is interesting for me.
